French Halloween lesson - Halloween en français - En quoi tu te déguises?

French Halloween lesson - Halloween en français - En quoi tu te déguises?

A fantastically engaging and spooky Halloween lesson for both Primary and Key stage 3. This lesson compromises introducing Halloween costumes in French and has the objective of being able to say what you are dressing up as for Halloween in French by the end of the lesson. The objective is achieved through engaging games such as choral repetition, beat the teacher, "which is missing?". Once the vocabulary has been practiced with the pupils, it is time for them to get out of their seats and solve a mystery involving the characters to whom they have just been introduced! The mystery involves solving a number of clues by answering questions in French based on familiar vocabulary. The pupils take the first letter of each answer and are left with an anagram of the culprit to the crime. The first pupil/pair/team to rearrange the anagram and find the culprit are the winners. Once the mystery is solved, the pupils learn how to ask and answer what they are dressing up as, for Halloween. They are also encouraged to challenge themselves by giving reasons for their chosen costume by learning a number of Halloween related adjectives. The pupils then consolidate this new vocabulary by undertaking a survey of other pupils in the room to find out their Halloween costumes. Note: The clues in the "Who stole the Queen's lunch" should be cut up and placed around the room for the pupils to read. Mix these up so that they don't reveal the answer to easily! Included in the survey slide and the "qui est le coupable?" slide are 2 embedded videos with French Halloween songs to create some atmosphere for when the pupils undertake the tasks. Also included in this lesson are Halloween Flashcards, these are to be used as the "suspects" when solving the mystery. It is useful to print these off and lay them out somewhere visible for the pupils when solving the anagram as they include the correct spellings.

FRENCH - HALLOWEEN - JOYEUX HALLOWEEN

FRENCH - HALLOWEEN - JOYEUX HALLOWEEN

A selection of activities to practice Halloween vocabulary in French. There is a vocabulary worksheet to label images. There is a worksheet to practice the expression 'Il y a...' saying how many objects there are. There is a worksheet to say where the ghost is, which revises the expression 'Il y a ...' and items of furniture. There is also a picture to colour, which enhances reading skills and also revises colours. To complete the Halloween activities there is a wordsearch and a completed TC. If you consider this worth buying, 'un très grand merci.' Joyeux Halloween à tous... My thanks to clker.com and cliparts.co for the use of the clipart images.

Halloween Poem: La Sorcière a froid au pieds

Halloween Poem: La Sorcière a froid au pieds

Found this poem on dessinemoiunehistoire.net where you can download the poem. There is also a really cute youtube video with picture clues of the key words spoken by French children. I put together a powerpoint testing comprehension skills, can be done with a dictionary also. Pupils could take the poem and create a storyboard drawing the pictures, or create their own added verse by changing details.

French Christmas Bundle

French Christmas Bundle

Christmas themed bundle including: - a PowerPoint with all my usual games and opportunities to practise all four skills - a Board game (great for the last couple of lessons to avoid the usual 'design a Christmas card') - a letter to Father Christmas- great for younger learners and lower ability groups - Christmas cards to colour- these fold into cards with French instructions on the back such as 'colour the ribbon in red' - a Christmas song to the tune of Jingle Bells- again great for younger pupils and it consolidates numbers and colours. Audio file included of KS1 pupils singing last year.
