Tour de France 2018

Tour de France 2018 an updated version of my previous presentation. Includes 2018 details about the tour, explanation of the stages, jerseys, fans, links to videos of the tour and the official TDF website, type of food the riders eat and fitness regime. There is also 20 questions with answers based on the information in the presentation, a set of key words, and a list of suggestions for follow up tasks. These resources can be for one lesson or, if you choose to exploit it further, could be a series of lessons. Great for teaching a cultural and geographic aspects of France and it’s an event you and your class can follow on television. I hope you enjoy teaching your classes about the Tour de France as much as I do.

A comprehensive booklet made for Year 8 students studying in preparation for any exam board. Includes: a three-page vocabulary list that students should use words from in every lesson. These include phrases asking for help, things in the classroom, question words, homework words and commands. vocab lists and checklists for 9 different topics. The topics include: c’est quoi, la France? le monde des medias accro a la technologie? etre ado, c’est quoi? en pleine forme! rendez-vous -details on how to reach grade 2, 3, 4 and 5 in the four skills: listening, writing, reading and speaking languages check-point sheets for students to complete after their assessment points. This is an extra-curricular MFL challenge aimed at all pupils, not just those studying languages. It could be adapted for any language and I used small prizes or merits as motivation. The pupils each got a print out to go in their planner and a larger copy was displayed in the languages corridor.

La Francophonie des Sports - research sporting events.

A standby computer room lesson or cultural homework: webquest in which pupils research the answers to questions about sporting events in the French-speaking world. Five questions each on Roland Garros, the Monaco Grand Prix, 24h du Mans, le Marathon des Sables, le Tour de France, and a further five questions on other random French sporting stuff. You could of course make a competition of it, or just get pupils to answer a selection of questions.

Resource used with my year 9 to teach key facts about the significance of the French Revolution and the meanings of the French Celebration of 14th July. It links in the GCSE Theme 1 (Customs) and it provides cultural awareness. PPT has 27 slides and covers two lessons with: 2 cultural starters Fact finder activity with worksheet (differentiated) and slides (to print out to display around the room) extension with a historical timeline to create. mini plenaries (short quiz, game, Q&A…) links to youtube videos: 1. historical fact recap (in English), 2. a fun song parody, 3. French TV of 14th July parade, 4. Extract of Les Miserables (English) and La vie en rose (French) a listening gapfill (teacher reading it out, differentiated worksheet) link to Studio 2 Vert (No screenshot due to copyright) This is probably more for lower set y9 or early KS3 due to the easy structures and input in English, but the videos are lighthearted to engage students.

A great PowerPoint to use to coincide with the 2018 World Cup and practise some basic player profile vocabulary. All 32 participating countries are introduced with pictures of flags and French spelling of the countries follwed by games to practise these countries such as ‘flying words’ game, ‘missing words’ game and ‘under the spotlight’ game. Simple reading activities included based on 3 player profiles in the style of Top Trumps cards and 3 more detailed profiles on Mo Salah, Cristiano Ronadlo and Lionel Messi.
