Dance Music Mash Up KS3 Keyboard Task - Shape of You and many more.

Suitable for a pairs task on keyboard in a KS3 Music Classroom. I am currently using music technology with Year 8 music classes to create a piece of club dance music from the ‘breaks’ or ‘hooks’ on the sheet. The have all been transposed into Am so will flow nicely into each other - students could also compose their own chord sequence in Am that these hooks will work with. The sheet contains 2-4 bars of the main hooks from the following songs: 7 Nation Army - White Stripes Shape of You - Ed Sheeran Wake Me Up - Avicii Insomnia - Faithless Lady Gaga - Poker Face King - Years and Years

Year 7 Music - End of Year Exam

This Year 7 Music exam has been created to cover a range of music knowledge most students would have covered. The first half of the paper includes a listening section which the teacher leads from the piano, asking students to identify pitch/dynamic/tonality/rhythm changes, major/minor chords, and comment on how a piece of music represents a certain atmosphere. The second section is knowledge based, and covers musical elements, instruments, families of the orchestra, reading the treble clef, note durations and chord identification. Students will explore a variety of voices and movements and end the lesson with reading a couple of books set to music. These lessons are meant to hook my students from the first day. One of the first things K students in our district learn is echoing and using our voice in different ways. I use this lesson as introduction to this series of lessons and to give my class a reputation of “fun” - then the students will buy into any lesson I give them in the future! These lessons are designed for my 45 minutes classes but you could modify them for 30 min or hour classes as needed. This is meant to be a guide for your individual situation. Substitutions for any part of the lesson is acceptable. Additional items you need to teach the lesson directly as written that are NOT included. • Cat Puppet (I use the orange puppet from the Making Music series, but really any stuffed cat will work). • Book (optional): If You’re Happy and You Know It • Book (optional): Down by the Bay • “Copycat Song” from Making Music. GCSE Music 9-1 Editable MusicTABOO Cards

GCSE Music 9-1 Editable MusicTABOO Cards

Create an example Taboo-style game for GCSE students based on one of the SetWorks and then give them the template to create their own. Colour coded using the same analysis colour scheme used in all the resources I have developed. Add a bonus reward for the students who can give examples related to the word on their card. Adapt for KS3 or even KS5. Offered here as an editable Word Document. Print double-sided on thin card flipped on the long edge. NB. It looks a little strange in the preview/info but I know the file is fine in Word 2016 and so I’d be interested to hear from anyone who tries downloading whether it works successfully. I hope you like it!
