TELL ME ABOUT - Hitler & Nazi Germany

Please use this mat as a revision game to play in groups in the classroom. This should be printed on A3 paper and laminated so that it can be re-used. This means that students can write their initials on their square instead of using counters. The way the game is played can be manipulated. However, the main instructions are as follows (also included on sheet): This is to be played in groups. Each student has a counter. They roll a dice and move that number of places. They then have to tell or explain to the others in their group about that topic. If they manage 15 seconds, they get 1 points. If they manage 25 seconds, they get 2 points. If they get 35 or more seconds, they get 3 points. Please use a great revision resource for group work. Please also leave any feedback for future revision resources and how to improve them.

For example: Hungarian Uprising **What happened: ** In 1956 people of Hungary began to protest about their lack of political freedoms and problems created by fuel shortages and poor harvests. This led to riots in Budapest and the replacement of Rakosi with Imre Nagy. Nagy announced a set of proposed reforms – authorised release of political prisoners, ended 1 party state. 1000 Russian tanks were sent and 4000 Hungarians killed fighting the Russians. Nagy executed. Consequences: • 200,000 Hungarian refugees fled into Austria. • Russia stayed in control behind the Iron Curtain. • People in the West were horrified. • Became clear that Western Europe would not come to the aid of Eastern European countries. • Khrushchev’s position became more secure in the Soviet Union. • Example that Warsaw Pact members should do as they were told by Russia.

Edexcel: 2.2c Russia: Revision: Opposition to Tsarism

This lesson uses the course textbook to help pupils if they are stuck. Lesson begins with a recap of the different social groups, before sorting reasons for opposition into different groups (Answers included). Pupils then unscramble key words for types of opposition before completing a crossword about the 1905 Revolution. Pupils then play a little pictionary to identify problems in Russia, before a teacher led mini-lecture on the Tsars 3 types of reaction. This is followed by a What If history discussion and a short round robin plenary.
