❤️ Look out for more ❤️ More “Erklärbär” games will be published and I am glad to share this wonderful game with you. It is great fun for learners to actually use their language skills to describe a word and the others guessing it. ❤️ About me ❤️ Hi there 👋🏼! I´m Cindy from Leipzig, Germany. I have been a German and English teacher for more than 12 years now. And I love coffee breaks ☕️. Coffee is just great. Over the years I have realized how much my students benefit most from lessons where THEY are the leaders, where THEY are encouraged to be proactive and learn from each other. Handing over the reins to my students doesn’t make me weaker as a teacher. It makes them responsible for their own learning and is highly motivating. I don’t want my students to be sailors. I want them to be CAPTAINS! (And I want coffee!) My teaching resources are all designed to enable students to USE the language. This is why you will always find the communicative approach in my resources - even simple crosswords come with ideas for speaking activities. All About Me (Facebook Profile Page Style - Deutschbook)

All About Me (Facebook Profile Page Style - Deutschbook)

This is a twist on a getting-to know-you exercise to do, perhaps, with a new class, on a transition, or when starting German after a break, if the teaching is staggered. The printout (print directly from ppt slides) is designed to look like a Facebook page, entitled Deutschbook. This resource aims to engage older learners of German to revisit the basics in a manner that doesn’t feel babyish or repetitive. If you like this resource, I would be grateful if you could leave a review.

German – Describing People – Physical Descriptions & Characteristics.

German – Describing People – Physical Descriptions & Characteristics.

This is a set of resources to introduce describing others and oneself. There is a lengthy PowerPoint (76 slides) that goes through describing height, build, hair and eyes with reinforcement activities, match up activities, gap fills, translations and reading comprehension. It then goes on to introduce 16 characteristics with match ups, snake sentences and reading comprehensions. The final activity is the creation of a wanted poster for students to complete. There is an 8-page worksheet that accompanies the PowerPoint. These resources are enough for several lessons and start from introduction through to pupils confidently using all of the new language, creating whole descriptions of themselves and others.

Echo Express 1 Module 3 Vocabulary Matching Exercises

Echo Express 1 Module 3 Vocabulary Matching Exercises

These simple yet versatile matching exercises are made from the vocabulary used in module 3 of Echo Express 1. They can be used as starters, extensions, plenaries, homework and revision. They are also great for measuring progress when used as a starter and a plenary in the same lesson. They can also be colour-coded / traffic lighted to provide instant feedback as well as a focus for assessment revision. I always let pupils choose whether they want to write the answers in in English or the Target Language. Matching with lines never works! I have had great feedback from pupils when using them and hope you will too. Please let me know if you find typos / mistakes.

Great German Insults (classroom-friendly) Aimed at Y9

Great German Insults (classroom-friendly) Aimed at Y9

Some non-rude German insults aimed at a small group of year 9s. Aim of making the language seem a bit more fun. This is supposed to be a bit of funny lesson, and it's all fairly light-hearted. Ways to use resource: 1) Give out copy of the sheets and go through pronunciation of each one. Make sure pupils know where the stress lies - call and repeat. Included in one example is a video from Friends to demonstrate Joey's cute simpleness. Stop it after 20 seconds, as that gets the point across. 2) Sheet three is to see if they can correctly identify the appropriate insult for the people listed :D 3) If you felt it was appropriate (though I think you'd only do this with certain classes), you could get them to write an insult for a friend - be careful though in case some pupils are not high attainers, as they might take it to heart if they get called an "Evolutionsbremse") This will take roughly 20-30 minutes.
