GCSE Computer Science Paper 1 and 2 Mock Exam Bundle in style of AQA New Spec Grade 9 - 1 8520

GCSE Computer Science Paper 1 and 2 Mock Exam Bundle in style of AQA New Spec Grade 9 - 1 8520

This bundle contains paper 1 and paper 2 of my painstakingly created custom exam papers for GCSE Computer Science. Both come with an exam board level mark scheme to ensure accurate assessment. Designed in the style and proportions of the AQA 8520 Spec but also suitable for OCR and other boards. Also contains a mock NEA assessment which is useful for developing programming skills and may become more useful if the NEA becomes an assessed piece again.

GCSE Computer Science Paper 2 Mock Exam in style of AQA New Spec Grade 9 - 1 8520

GCSE Computer Science Paper 2 Mock Exam in style of AQA New Spec Grade 9 - 1 8520

This is a full mock/practice paper 2 for the new specification GCSE Computer Science. It is based on the AQA 8520 style of exams and heavily influenced by the AQA specimen and includes a full exam board level mark scheme. It would also be suitable for assessing OCR and other exam boards. Currently, there are very few full practices papers online so I decided to make this one. A huge amount of time was invested to make sure it covers the full specification of the new GCSE, so you can actually assess what is necessary. It uses the same proportions of topics and assessment points at the AQA specimen paper so you can accurately attain what your students know or need to work on. Paper 1 is also available. Hope it helps! Toby Watkins

Understanding Number Bases GCSE Revision and KS3 data Representation introduction

Understanding Number Bases GCSE Revision and KS3 data Representation introduction

This document is an ideal GCSE revision tool or used in KS3 as an introduction to data representation. It includes 5 page PDF handout which explains the theory of a decimal, binary and hexadecimal number base and gives three tasks to complete. Please note: This handout does not explain how to convert between number bases and only explains what each are and why binary and hexadecimal are used. It also includes a separate document containing the answers to the three tasks.

Data Transmission - serial and parallel data / parity bits and parity blocks - Full Lesson.

Data Transmission - serial and parallel data / parity bits and parity blocks - Full Lesson.

This is a full lesson on data transmission with all resources / activities. I use this for a double lesson of around 1 hour and 50 minutes and it provides a thorough understanding of simplex / duplex transmission and then goes on to look at serial / parallel transmission before finishing with odd and even parity bits and then parity blocks. The Learning Objectives are: • Understand what is meant by transmission of data • Know the difference between serial and parallel data transmission • understand of the reasons for choosing serial or parallel data transmission • Know why it is necessary to check for errors • Understand how parity works to identify if an error has occurred / locate errors Resources included: •Parallel Ports Handout •Serial Port Handout •Lesson Presentation •Parity demonstration •Parity Puzzle Plenary Please leave a review if you have any suggestions / comments

Collection and Analysis of Data - Unit 306 City and Guilds

Collection and Analysis of Data - Unit 306 City and Guilds

LOs 1 -3 covered (theory). The purpose of this unit is for learners to acquire and demonstrate a range of skills involved in research. The collection and analysis of data can encompass both digital and non-digital research. This unit is intended to explore the concepts of collecting and analysing data in order that it can support other units. In particular, this unit will support any unit that requires a feasibility study to be conducted or research to justify a given design. In this unit, learners will be able to: 1. recognise the concepts of data analysis 2. determine the techniques used to collect data for analysis 3. determine how to present the results from data analysis 4. perform collection and analysis of data.

Information Security Unit 302 City & Guilds

Information Security Unit 302 City & Guilds

Level 3 (Technical) Certificate/Extended Certificate/Diploma in Digital Technologies (5220-30/31/32) The aim of this unit is to give an introduction to the principles concerned with the security of Information Technology systems and data. Learners should explore a range of techniques used to enhance security of systems and data. The unit will also explore network infrastructure security, and how security measures can be both physical and logical. Learners will also explore new and emerging technologies used for cryptography and will have the opportunity to research cryptographic techniques that are applied in organisations. In this unit, learners will be able to: 1. apply security concepts 2. determine infrastructure security 3. identify types of cryptography.
