Design Technology - Bloom's Taxonomy Effective Questioning Techniques

Design Technology - Bloom's Taxonomy Effective Questioning Techniques

Here is a resource that you can use as display and as questioning techniques based on Blooms Taxonomy. There are 6 wall posters to go alongside effective questioning techniques that you can use in your classroom. As teachers and as people part of the world, we ask questions to our learners and people everyday. Not all questions are on the same level. Some questions are easy to answer where other questions may require a great deal of thinking. These can be used to develop and enhance student understanding and thinking in the class. Bloom (1956) has provided us with his taxonomy to assist us to compose questions on different levels of thinking. This taxonomy ranges from lower to higher levels of cognitive thinking. These levels are (I will shortly provide more detail of each level): (1) Knowledge (2) Comprehension (3) Application (4) Analysis (5) Synthesis (6) Evaluation Including information on… • Tips for effective questioning • Planning for questioning • Asking open questions • Using questioning to develop collaborative work • Alternatives to questions - Using Bloom’s taxonomy to analyse design and technology questions • Effective tactics for questioning

BTEC Coursework Supporting Resources

BTEC Coursework Supporting Resources

If you have purchased my booklets for Unit 2 or Unit 7 then you may be interested in the supporting documents that I use alongside these to help teach and explain the various elements of the two coursework units. This package includes a tracking spreadsheet for each unit, PowerPoints to help teach each individual topic as well as theory items to assist in specific pages. This will save you over 50% if you were to buy these items individually. Thanks for looking. Feedback always appreciated.

Ancient Sumer: Design an Instrument

Ancient Sumer: Design an Instrument

Children will participate in a short study of the importance of music in Ancient Sumer as well as the instruments used. Aligning with the 2014 National Curriculum of England’s Key Stage 2 History objective of studying one of the first civilisations, children will have opportunities to look at instruments uncovered by archaeologists studying Ancient Sumer. They will then learn about the science of sound before designing, making and evaluating their own instruments. A digital copy of the file for editing and sharing on Google Classrooms and Seesaw is available with download. More on Ancient Sumer coming soon!

Teams & Athletes: Sports Equipment Design (Explanation Text and Persuasive Text BUNDLE)

Teams & Athletes: Sports Equipment Design (Explanation Text and Persuasive Text BUNDLE)

Great to tie in with the 2018 Olympic Games! Children will look at how sports equipment has changed over time before making a modification of their own. Children will follow the DT process outlined in the 2014 National Curriculum of England, designing their own prototype, making their prototype, and then participating in peer- and self- evaluation of their prototype. When finished the design process, there are also resources included for writing an explanation text (of how their sports equipment has changed over time or how their new sports equipment modifications will work); and writing a persuasive text including an advert about their product. A link to digital files for editing and sharing on Google Classroom or Seesaw is available with download. ------------ You might also like: Teams & Athletes: Design a Team Jersey (with Explanation Text) Teams & Athletes: Design a Team Jersey (with Explanation Text)
