Being Determined - lesson & worksheet

Being Determined - lesson & worksheet

**Exploring what we know about being determined through sharing of previous experiences and reflecting on strategies used. ** As adults we know too well the importance of being determined towards a goal, and that its only a determined attitude that will keep us going when we hit a tough point in our journey. Teach kids this great life lesson, whilst developing sentence structure, self reflection and use of words to express emotion, through 3 main questions: 1- have you ever been determined to achieve a goal? 2- what strategies did you use to achieve it? 3- what did it feel like when you achieved it? Invite children to discuss these questions and to share their strategies and experiences with the group. Worksheet on being determined. For key stage 2. Based on the book Ernie Gonzales: The Determined Dreamer. Download includes printable worksheet. Copyright Beth Shepherd.

Curling Winter Olympics Vocabulary game for Interactive Whiteboard

Curling Winter Olympics Vocabulary game for Interactive Whiteboard

Tying in with the Winter Olympics 2018, this is a curling game which I have used for MFL lessons (ask differentiated vocabulary and / or conjugation questions to decide who goes first, and whether students can launch a stone / how many stones they are allowed to launch). Points are gathered either by ‘zone’ the stone is touching, e.g. 1 for outer (blue), 2 for outer white, 3 for red and 4 for inner white, or (like the real curling game) you score depending on how close you are to the middle. If the closest stone is red or yellow, that team gets 1 point. If the second closest is the SAME colour, that team gets 2 points. If it is a different colour, the closest team only gets 1 point, etc. See here for more info on official scoring: /en/ scoring.html

Five Freedoms for Animals Class Poster

Five Freedoms for Animals Class Poster

The five freedoms, sometimes known as Brambell’s five freedoms, are a compact of rights for animals under human control. The five freedoms were originally developed from a UK Government report on livestock husbandry in 1965. The five freedoms are used as the basis for the actions of professional groups, including vets, and have been adopted by representative groups internationally including the World Organisation for Animal Health. What are the Five Freedoms for Animals? Freedom from hunger or thirst by ready access to fresh water and a diet to maintain full health and vigour Freedom from discomfort by providing an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area Freedom from pain, injury or disease by prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment Freedom to express normal behaviour by providing sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the animal’s own kind Freedom from fear and distress by ensuring conditions and treatment which avoid mental suffering
