Year 4 topic and English planning for a topic based on Blackpool Illuminations. Includes 8 weeks topic planning covering local area in geography, electricity in science and electrical systems in DT. The planning also includes 3 week English unit based on Dan Worsley story The Myth of the Poolie, 2 week English unit based on Brenda Williams seaside poetry and 3 week English unit based on persuasive adverts.

In the past, I have used the lessons with the class as a way to reinforce the concept of a fair test, as well as different types of variables. The pack has been broken up into objectives for Years 3 & 4 followed up on Years 5 & 6. Using the MakeyMakey gives the children the opportunity to go deeper into concepts, combining them with engineering, design and core science. Children can also create products with the littleBits to present their findings from enquiries and conclusions as a way to show their understanding. A link is also provided should you want to access the file for editing and sharing on Google Classroom or Seesaw.
