Year 7 Keyboard Skills booklet

Year 7 Keyboard Skills booklet

This booklet introduces Year 7 students to the basics of keyboard skills. It starts out with identifying where the notes are on the keyboard before moving onto performing 5-note melodies using semibreves, crotchets and minims. After this students move on to learn 3 major chords followed by performing songs which uses both chords and melody. The booklet is divided up into 8 work cards with each one increasing in difficulty. Students all start on work card 1 and when they are ready they show their teacher for assessment- if successful the teacher can sign the assessment page allowing them to move on to the next card. I use this as a 6 week project in year 7 with students having each lesson to work on their card and try to progress as high as they can. I give them rewards for reaching certain cards to keep them motivated.
