Speaking cards and questions: Los movimientos populares (new A Level)

Speaking cards and questions: Los movimientos populares (new A Level)

A varied collection of cards on evictions and La Ley Mordaza, indigenous protests in Guatemala, Catalonia, rubbish collection protests, etc. You are spoilt for variety here! These cards are followed by general questions. The cards and questions can be used in class, set for homework, used in mocks or anything that stretches your imagination! I have also published revision notes on this topic. These can help with the preparation of some cards or to consolidate/extend knowledge of the topic. Feedback is always welcome. Enjoy, Blanca

Los movimientos populares: Notas de revisión (new A Level)

Los movimientos populares: Notas de revisión (new A Level)

Revision notes on this "bodrio" of a theme! I have tried to simplify as much as possible a subject that I believe is not too appealing for the majority of students. You can use the revision notes in a variety of ways: students make flash cards with them, to introduce a subtopic, to revise vocab in context, for ideas for the IRP, etc. A set of stimulus cards and general questions complements these notes, but both usable as individual resources. Feedback on this resource always welcome. And thanks for those who are showing continuous support for my work. Enjoy, Blanca

Escuchar video "No nos vamos, nos echan" (Jóvenes de hoy- New A Level)

Escuchar video "No nos vamos, nos echan" (Jóvenes de hoy- New A Level)

This is a listening/reading activity where students watch a cutting-edge insightful video on young people who have left Spain due to unemployment. Students work on to the transcript to answer questions INTERPRETING what they have seen/heard. It helps students to gain cultural depth, as well as develop their analytical skills. I used it as an introduction to the topic, and students worked in pairs. There is also a website with the same title which I found really interesting. Good for extension reading after the exercise. Enjoy! Blanca

Speaking cards, questions and game La convivencia (new AL2 AQA)

Speaking cards, questions and game La convivencia (new AL2 AQA)

A set of 10 cards touching upon a variety of sub-topics including Toledo as a a city of three cultures, Lavapiés (a suburb in Madrid) as an example of a successful diverse quarter , the santería, threats to social coexistence, etc. Many cards have links to newspaper articles that students can read to prepare the card or for extension reading. This is followed by general questions that allow students to reflect on knowledge of the world around them as well as that of the Hispanic world. The game consists of a serious of statements that students have to place the context for and analyse. I have also published revision notes for this topic. Happy teaching and learning, Blanca

Los jóvenes de hoy: notas de revisión (new A Level)

Los jóvenes de hoy: notas de revisión (new A Level)

Here is a set of revision notes on the topic of young people, including cutting-edge areas such as the NINIS in Latinoamerica, differences between young people in Spain and Latinoamerica, examples of activism, values and ways of entertainment... These should help for students to make their own revision cards, as a means to revise key concepts an ideas, to prepare speaking cards, as a springboard for the preparation of the IRP. The format is deliberately simple, so that it can be easily adapted. Any comments welcome. Happy teaching and learning, Blanca.

Speaking cards, questions and game Jóvenes de Hoy (new A Level)

Speaking cards, questions and game Jóvenes de Hoy (new A Level)

A set of cutting edge cards including the campaign "No nos vamos, nos echan", the SISI and recent protests in Venezuela. Many cards have links so that students can read widely about the topic or use the card as a springboard to prepare their individual presentations. The type of questions mirror those of the exam (this has been extensively researched before producing them by looking at the range of questions in French and German exams too). The game should help with improvisation and to explore different points, a skill much needed in speaking and writing. I have also published revision notes that can be useful to prepare the cards. Happy teaching and learning, Blanca

Modelos a seguir- Vocab and activity sheet. New GCSE-Module4

New GCSE resource. Viva Module 4-Modelos a seguir (higher) This resource is aimed for a higher ability group to work through the vocab from the topic. 7 different activities aimed to help students recognise and use the topic vocab. It is differentiated in that the activities get harder, students could be given the topic vocab sheet to support them if needed. Could be set for cover/ homework/ in class to consolidate. Thanks to Gianfranco Conti for the layout inspiration.
