Los movimientos populares: Notas de revisión (new A Level)

Los movimientos populares: Notas de revisión (new A Level)

Revision notes on this "bodrio" of a theme! I have tried to simplify as much as possible a subject that I believe is not too appealing for the majority of students. You can use the revision notes in a variety of ways: students make flash cards with them, to introduce a subtopic, to revise vocab in context, for ideas for the IRP, etc. A set of stimulus cards and general questions complements these notes, but both usable as individual resources. Feedback on this resource always welcome. And thanks for those who are showing continuous support for my work. Enjoy, Blanca

Escuchar video "No nos vamos, nos echan" (Jóvenes de hoy- New A Level)

Escuchar video "No nos vamos, nos echan" (Jóvenes de hoy- New A Level)

This is a listening/reading activity where students watch a cutting-edge insightful video on young people who have left Spain due to unemployment. Students work on to the transcript to answer questions INTERPRETING what they have seen/heard. It helps students to gain cultural depth, as well as develop their analytical skills. I used it as an introduction to the topic, and students worked in pairs. There is also a website with the same title which I found really interesting. Good for extension reading after the exercise. Enjoy! Blanca

Los jóvenes de hoy: notas de revisión (new A Level)

Los jóvenes de hoy: notas de revisión (new A Level)

Here is a set of revision notes on the topic of young people, including cutting-edge areas such as the NINIS in Latinoamerica, differences between young people in Spain and Latinoamerica, examples of activism, values and ways of entertainment... These should help for students to make their own revision cards, as a means to revise key concepts an ideas, to prepare speaking cards, as a springboard for the preparation of the IRP. The format is deliberately simple, so that it can be easily adapted. Any comments welcome. Happy teaching and learning, Blanca.

Speaking cards, questions and game Jóvenes de Hoy (new A Level)

Speaking cards, questions and game Jóvenes de Hoy (new A Level)

A set of cutting edge cards including the campaign "No nos vamos, nos echan", the SISI and recent protests in Venezuela. Many cards have links so that students can read widely about the topic or use the card as a springboard to prepare their individual presentations. The type of questions mirror those of the exam (this has been extensively researched before producing them by looking at the range of questions in French and German exams too). The game should help with improvisation and to explore different points, a skill much needed in speaking and writing. I have also published revision notes that can be useful to prepare the cards. Happy teaching and learning, Blanca

AQA Spanish Reading Workbook

Based on the model answers for my Spanish Writing Workbook, this reading workbook contains 3 reading worksheets for every topic in the new AQA Spanish GCSE syllabus plus answers for every task at the end of the document. Ideal for reading practice and assessments in Key Stage 4, revision and independent work for Year 11, or extension work for more able Key Stage 3 students. This can also be used for cover lessons with non-specialists as the tasks are straightforward and there are answers provided. As well as the Word document, I have included a PDF in case the fonts are not available on certain computers and the formatting therefore doesn't work properly on the Word doc. All questions and answers are my own, based on the new specification GCSE reading papers, and the photos are from royalty-free websites and it is all therefore photocopiable.

Flamenco: social history of flamenco, gypsies, civil war, oppression, Andalucia etc

Flamenco: social history of flamenco, gypsies, civil war, oppression, Andalucia etc

This is a resource which takes you through the history of flamenco. From the Islamic Empire, Isabel and Ferdinand to Franco's Spain and lastly to now. How and why did flamenco develop? What is it now and what was it before? Lots of videos and pictures and maps to demonstrate. Lots of notes in the comments section. I am running a Spanish and Latin American Extra Curricular Club at school, not sure if this helps for history or dance but it is packed with interesting info, lots of notes in the notes section on PPT. Let me know how you are using it i.e. for what lessons etc.

El Racismo (new A Level): Notas de revisión

El Racismo (new A Level): Notas de revisión

As promised, here are the revision notes for this topic. Useful to prepare speaking cards, revise concepts, ideas, cultural information, etc. I have included notes on racism against indigenous people, the homeless and gypsies too, apart from the obvious. Also, examples of racist language, campaigns, etc. It seems to me that AQA could have labelled this topic better, for example "hate crime" as it is wider than just hate against "race". Happy teaching and learning, Blanca.

Speaking cards, questions and game El racismo (New AL)

A comprehensive set of speaking cards focusing on cutting-edge areas of this topic. It includes cards on racist expressions in Spanish, islamofobia, aporofobia, racism against indigenous people in Peru, etc. They can be used in class, prepared for homework or as a mock exam. The revision notes for this topic can help students to prepare these cards. The general questions are for pair work, to prepare a presentation or for mock exams. I have included questions on Trump and his immigration policies which are seen as racist by many. At the end, there is a game to challenge students and help them with spontaneous talk.
