Statistics: (S1) Skewness (Pearson's / Quartiles / Standard Deviation) + worksheet

This is a whole lesson looking at the different aspects of skewness, what it is, how to calculate it and maybe most importantly interpreting the results in terms of the data. The lesson look at how to calculate using Pearson's measure of Skewness, the Quartile Skewness and also how to calculate using the IQR for Outliers. 14 slides. The lesson includes a starter, learning objectives, key words, superb clear teaching slides and examples, worksheet with mark scheme and plenary. IB Math SL TI-Nspire Statistics & Probability Calculator Guide

IB Math SL TI-Nspire Statistics & Probability Calculator Guide

This guide is helpful for students and teachers in International Baccalaureate Math Standard Level. This 6 page document covers three main topics: Statistics, Binomial Distribution, and Normal Distribution. The guide instructs students on what buttons to press and what each of the features will do. From adding spreadsheets, analyzing a set of data, finding the linear regression, using the binomial pdf and cdf features, and using the normal pdf and cdf and inverse Norm features, this guide is a create tool to summarize what the students need to know for the calculator portion of the IB Math SL test. There are a few short examples (with answers provided) for students to test their understanding of the calculator features.

Statistics: Normal Distribution Bundle (4 Lessons) - Perfect for S1 and S2

Statistics: Normal Distribution Bundle (4 Lessons) - Perfect for S1 and S2

This is four excellent lessons. All the lessons are approximately 25 slides and should be enough for a long double A-Level lesson (1hr 40 - 2hours) Lesson 1 - Standard Normal / Introduction Lesson 2 - Non Standard / Standardizing Lesson 3 - Backwards and Problems Lesson 4 - Approximation for Binomial Distribution NOTE: Feel free to browse my shop for more excellent free and premium resources and as always please rate and feedback, thank you.

Statistics: (S1) Normal Distribution 3 - Backwards and Further Problems (+ worksheets)

Statistics: (S1) Normal Distribution 3 - Backwards and Further Problems (+ worksheets)

This is the third of four lessons on the normal distribution, which builds on the first two lessons. This is your A/A* material, looking at different types of questions and problems. This is an excellent resource, with lots and lots of excellent teaching slides, 21 slides. Specifically this lesson is for teaching about how to work backwards and different questions. It does touch on linear combinations, so I recommend teaching that first (also available from my shop) and looks in detail at little issues/ mistakes that people can make. This is a vital lesson for your top end students and gives less able students more time to practise the normal distribution. I have therefore included two worksheets (exam questions) aimed at different abilities students and then come with accompanying mark schemes. Statistics: (S1) Normal Distribution 2 - Non / Not Standard (+ Worksheet)

Statistics: (S1) Normal Distribution 2 - Non / Not Standard (+ Worksheet)

This is the second of four lessons on the normal distribution, which builds on the first lesson that introduced the topic by looking at what to do when data is not in the standard normal form. This is an excellent resource, with lots and lots of excellent teaching slides, 21 slides. Specifically this lesson is for teaching what is the normal distribution is, the criteria for using it and how and HOW TO STANDARDISE, and again how to use look up tables to solve problems that are in a standard normal form having standardised. I have also included questions I often used with accompanying mark scheme. Hypothesis Test for a Population Mean - Analogy to a Criminal Trial

Hypothesis Test for a Population Mean - Analogy to a Criminal Trial

This is a student workbook that can supplement lessons on hypothesis tests for a population mean. I teach the stages of hypothesis testing using analogies to a criminal trial. My students like this comparison; they are more engaged and it helps them to see the relevance of the different stages. Once students are confident with the terminology, we create our own courtroom in the classroom and role-play the stages of hypothesis testing with students acting as the jury, prosecution, judge and defence. Contents of the workbook 1. A summary of the 5 stages of hypothesis testing 2. A detailed analogy to a criminal trial 3. One worked example 4. Space for students to complete their own examples. 5. Worksheets on: a. the null and alternative hypothesis b. type I and type II errors c. checking assumptions d. sampling distributions e. the normal distribution f. the t-distribution g. interpreting p-values Answers for worksheets provided in separate document. The preview file shows a selection of pages from the workbook.

Team Revision Tasks - Statistics 1 (Edexcel)

These are an attempt to break from the monotony of past papers in the run up to exam season. I have taken 2 questions from past papers and put them on one sheet; I will photocopy onto A3 for students to have a go in groups and discuss. The aims/rules etc are all listed if you wish to follow them and hopefully they all make sense. I have also provided answers.
