These resources consider the context, form, language and structure in this poem through activities, discussion, note taking and creative activities. This resource includes an assessment proforma to evidence progression of learning and to help students identify key aspects of the text ready for revision nearer to their GCSE exams.

This lesson takes you through the links between Marilyn Monroe and this play text ensuring that students can discuss this in the context of the themes that this play throws up. This lesson draws on engaging activities, such as quote finds, parallel timelines, research tasks and a quiz that demands higher level thinking. Literary terminology is encouraged throughout to ensure students familiarise with this during teaching.

This resource is challenging through differentiation and equally supports the middle/lower ability learners. This powerpoint offers a mix of informative slides, with activity slides to ensure that everyone is stretched and engaged. This lesson concludes with a comparative essay title to enable learners to evidence their understanding of the devices at play in this text. This lesson uses a paper thematically linked to 'Space' and takes students through a series of leading questions in order to help them break down the methods they can use to approach this final question on the Non Fiction paper. It also includes reference to PALS as a method of talking about authors ideas and perspectives. My year 11 group found this lesson enormously clarifying as a revision lesson.

This resource includes tasks on building and using different sentence structures, how to use more ambitious punctuation, vocabulary choices, writing devices: figurative language, opening sentences, show don't tell and the wwwww method of writing construction plus some highly engaging tasks based on the mysterious images left by Harris Burdick. My students loved this unit of work and have continued to produce high quality pieces of writing. My other resource on David Didau's slow writing would work really well as a follow up to this unit.

This resource is fully differentiated, includes assessment with a DIRT task, close textual analysis modelled using PETAL and then supported with prompt questions, a fun wordsearch and some high order thinking tasks. This lesson is engaging, progressive and fun and offers a detailed study of both the language used in this text and the structure within these chapters and of these chapters as part of the whole novel. This final lesson in this collection of resources asks students to consider the cyclical nature of some of the narrative strands, whilst also acknowledging the chronological order of Silas and Eppie's life together that breaks free from this structure. This lesson teaches students the STILT(s) acronym for poetry comparison, this could be used to teach comparison skills as well as teaching specific comparison points on these two poems from the Edexcel Relationship Collection. The lesson is challenging and aims to take students grades to the top levels.
