Non Newtonian Fluids

(0)
Originally created for the BTEC Applied Science level 3 qualification Unit 5 - Physics. By the end of the lesson learners should be able to: Recall the difference between Newtonian and Non-Newtonian fluids Describe pseudoplastic, dilatant, thixotropic, and rheopectic fluids. Justify the uses of these different fluids. The resource contains past paper questions and mark scheme answers. Slides were originally created using google slides, opening in microsoft powerpoint might cause slight misalignment - open in google slides to avoid this.
Wave Phases

Wave Phases

(0)
By the end of the lesson learners should be able to: Identify different types of waves. Describe how to measure properties of waves. Compare constructive and destructive interference.
Smoking
hbscienceresourceshbscienceresources

Smoking

(0)
By the end of the lesson learners will be able to: Identify the chemicals found inside a cigarette. Describe how these chemicals affect the body. Explain why more people are starting to use vapes instead of cigarettes.
Diffraction Gratings
hbscienceresourceshbscienceresources

Diffraction Gratings

(0)
By the end of the lesson learners will be able to: Identify waves from a top view. Describe what occurs during diffraction. Explain why a diffraction grating produces light and dark zones.

Industrial fermentation - making yoghurt (bacteria) and bread (yeast)

(0)
A series of 3 lessons which teach students the principles of industrial fermentation. **Lesson 1: Bacteria and yoghurt ** Learning objective: Evaluate the conditions needed for bacteria to thrive and produce insulin / yoghurt. Success criteria: Identify the steps of yogurt production. Describe the role of bacteria in fermentation. Evaluate the use of industrial fermenters. 21 slides. Lesson 2: Yeast and bread Learning objective: Explain why yeast is used in the process of manufacturing bread. Success criteria: Identify the equation for fermentation. Describe how bread is made. Explain why people don’t become drunk from eating bread… 8 slides Lesson 3: practical investigation Learning objective: Analyse how factors affect the growth of yeast and justify your conclusions. Success criteria: I can identify independent and dependent variables. I can describe control variables that will impact the investigation. I can evaluate how temperature affects growth. 23 slides Each activity offered is differentiated and each lesson includes progress checks. Past paper questions are also included to ensure adequate challenge is set to students. Content was made for iGCSE students for edexcel 9-1 combined science.
Snell's Law and Refraction Equations

Snell's Law and Refraction Equations

(0)
Resource was intended for BTEC Applied Science Unit 1 Physics. The resource was designed on google slides and should work fine on powerpoint, it might just need some rearranging. Answer keys are included for all questions asked. By the end of the lesson learners will be able to: Identify what is meant by refraction. Describe the following during refraction: incident ray, refracted ray, normal, angle of incidence and angle of refraction. Using Snell’s equation calculate the angle of refraction.
Density
hbscienceresourceshbscienceresources

Density

(0)
A comprehension lesson that teaches students about: how factors contribute towards an objects density. How to calculate density, and how irregular shape density can be calculated. Progress checks are available following each success criteria Tasks are differentiated to suit the needs of each learner. Learning objective: Devise methods in order to calculate density of objects. By the end of the lesson learners should be able to: Success criteria: -State what is meant by mass. -State what is meant by volume. -Describe the term density. -Explain how to calculate density of regular and irregular shapes. Powerpoint contains 20 slides.

Physics paper 3 Revision Edexcel combined Science

(0)
A collection of revision resources for Pearsons combined science 9-1 edexcel specification: Physics paper 3. Sometimes referred to as Physics paper 1. The resources were originally produced on google slides, therefore, please open them using google slides in order to avoid alignment issues on powerpoint. Included in this collection are: Blank revision posters for the students to fill and consolidate their knowledge. Answer keys for the revision posters OR revision slides to complement the blank revision posters. Topics covered are: Section 17 Key concepts of Physics - Motion, Forces and Energy, Section 18 EM spectrum Section 19 Radiation The entire resource contains 69 slides.
Plant Growth and Distribution
hbscienceresourceshbscienceresources

Plant Growth and Distribution

(0)
Resource prepared for BTEC Applied science Level 3 - Unit 3. By the end of the lesson learners should be able to: Identify factors that influence plant distribution and growth. Describe how to sample plant distribution. Explain the drawbacks of different types of sampling.
Biodiversity and Eutrophication
hbscienceresourceshbscienceresources

Biodiversity and Eutrophication

(0)
By the end of the lesson learners should be able to: State what’s meant by biodiversity. Describe how biodiversity can be increased / decreased. Describe what non-indigenous / alien species can do to biodiversity. Explain why there is a limit on how much fertiliser a person can buy.
Detecting Messages
hbscienceresourceshbscienceresources

Detecting Messages

(0)
By the end of the lesson learners should be able to: Identify carrier waves. Describe how waves can be modulated by amplitude or frequency. Explain why radio receivers are often able to detect a signal over a large area.
Drag Forces friction and air resistance
hbscienceresourceshbscienceresources

Drag Forces friction and air resistance

(0)
A resource containing a comprehensive powerpoint slideshow that will allow for learners to learn about drag forces friction and air resistance. Tasks are differentiated to suit the needs of each learner. Progress checks take place after each success criteria to measure the progress of learners. By the end of the lesson students should be able to: Learning objective: Develop an understanding of how drag forces affect the movement of an object. Success criteria: Identify 2 drag forces. Describe how drag forces affect objects. Explain why air resistance and friction can be useful and a nuisance. This lesson contains 22 slides
Section 3 Waves Revision poster Physics combined IGCSE

Section 3 Waves Revision poster Physics combined IGCSE

(0)
A revision poster that includes material needed for section 3 of the edexcel iGCSE combined science double award physics. Section 3 Waves A blank copy for students to fill in is also included for students to test their knowledge. I would recommend to print these in A3 and guide the students through the answers using the completed revision poster attached. Due to the amount of detail needed to squeeze into one poster, the font is small in some sections which might need some further zooming in on presenting devices.

8 Resources
A collection of 8 posters that cover the entire specification in terms of physics for the Pearson edexcel combined science international GCSE (9-1) double award. All sections 1-8 are included There is an issue currently on TES that doesn’t allow for me to attach section 1 - this should be included and can be emailed to any purchaser - I will email TES to resolve this ASAP.
