Christian Aid Week Assembly
12th to 18th May 2019
Key Stages 3, 4 and 5
In the next few weeks you may return home to find a red envelope on the door mat, or you might encounter volunteers shaking red buckets when you’re out and about. They’re collecting for the charity, Christian Aid. Christian Aid Week is the UK’s longest running fund-raising week.
It began in 1945, to help refugees all over Europe at the end of the Second World War. Christian Aid’s founders had a vision of a world where each person was respected because they were a human being; of a world where women and men and large nations and small would have equal rights; and of a world where there would be better standards of living and opportunities for all, with everyone’s needs met.
As inequality becomes greater, oppression stronger and poverty persists, this age-appropriate, thought-provoking assembly, outlines some of the life-saving work this charity is currently undertaking and aims to raise awareness of some of the issues our global neighbours are facing.
This pack will save you hours of preparation time. It comprises of a 26-slide power-point presentation with a detailed script, music accompaniment and a prayer.
The presentation can be used in a number of ways;
• for a school assembly
• as a loop on the school’s visual display system
• as part of a lesson
• as an introduction to Christian Aid Week projects/activities.
