British Explorers Wordsearch Starter Activity Geography Exploration Homework Cover Lesson Plenary

British Explorers Wordsearch Starter Activity Geography Exploration Homework Cover Lesson Plenary

Wordsearch on the theme of 'British Explorers'. Powerpoint so can be used on the board or printed as a worksheet. Includes space for students to explain the keywords and suggested extension activities. Can take 10 minutes or an hour, depending on which activities the students complete. Ideal for the start of a lesson, a quick filler, a homework, part of a cover lesson or as a plenary on the board with a whiteboard pen. The idea behind these is to get students to become more literate and think independently about the words that could be used to describe the topic being taught. Often the students will pick up on things that you would not normally expect!

History presentation- Christopher Columbus

History presentation- Christopher Columbus

This is a presentation on the explorer, Christopher Columbus, who discovered the 'New World.' Use it as part of a lesson or for an assembly. The presentation covers Christopher's childhood, his early sailing years, his voyage and his discovery. The last part of the presentation includes some interesting questions to provoke discussion or for further exploration. Columbus is one of the key historical figures mentioned in the KS1 curriculum, so this presentation would be perfect for introducing the explorer.

END OF YEAR EUROPE QUIZ #2 - 50 MULTIPLE-CHOICE QUESTIONS

END OF YEAR EUROPE QUIZ #2 - 50 MULTIPLE-CHOICE QUESTIONS

THE GREAT BIG EUROPE QUIZ #2 - PERFECT FOR SOME END-OF-YEAR FUN AND LEARNING ALL ABOUT ALL THINGS EUROPEAN AT THE SAME TIME! THE GREAT BIG EUROPE QUIZ #2 features 50 multiple-choice questions, and is perfect for developing students’ awareness, understanding and knowledge of all things EUROPEAN. The questions range from basic general knowledge to more specialised factual knowledge. They address a comprehensive range of topics: art, culture, food, geography, history, language, literature, music, people, politics, science and society. You can be QUIZ QUESTION MASTER, but students do enjoy taking on that role in turns. The questions often stimulate further and deeper discussion about particular themes and topics - for example, the question regarding Eyjafjallajökull is a great example of a ‘modern-day’ volcano eruption, and the implications for both national and international communities - there are lots of good quality clips available online which students find interesting to watch and then discuss. The quiz is a basic, editable file, with the correct answer revealed in bold on the second click. It's ideal for whole-group quizzes, with students choosing a European-themed team name. Play in form-time or in any subject area lesson as a brain-break - the questions really are cross-curricular! Play several times at intervals across the school year - this really does put students’ memory and developing knowledge to the test. The quiz goes down particularly well at key points in the school year: end of year, back to school, Christmas and so on. QUIZZES 1 & 2 with 100 multiple-choice questions are also available as a combined pack at the special price of £3.00 - have a look at it here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/end-of-year-europe-quizzes-1-and-2-100-multiple-choice-questions-11670827 Please read the TERMS OF USE carefully - the resource is copyright, and for single-teacher/purchaser use only.
