Media Project scheme of work

This is a 5 week scheme of work ending in APP on Media. The work is creating a charity advert using video cameras and Apple Macs to complete. It is 15 lessons worth of media exposure and i have used this succesfully with a year 9 group. You can pick your own APP resource to use. The paper adverts are not attached but you can pick them up from anywhere.

President George W Bush said of this event, ‘The toppling of Saddam Hussein’s statue in Baghdad will be recorded, alongside the fall of the Berlin Wall, as one of the great moments in the history of liberty.’ This PowerPoint exposes the event as propaganda.

Young filmakers video sharing website - chance for schools to upload their stories

Many children and young people will be familiar with the idea of producing a short video or animation and publishing it on video upload sites such as YouTube. However, because these sites are un-moderated many teachers are uncomfortable with directing learners to these sites as they may contain inappropriate content. E2BN Clips proves learners with the opportunity to publish to a world-wide audience but gives teachers the security of knowing that all of materials have been check for ‘appropriateness’.

Protest, policing and press in a CCTV age

A six-lesson project pack for KS3 and KS4 based on the death of Ian Tomlinson after his assault by police officers at the G20 protests on 1st April 2009. The project provides photo, news article and video information, invites moral, political and social reflection and debate. Two delivery / discussion lessons are followed by six well-resourced research and project lessons with a clear and assessable outcome task.

Featuring the recent A Midsummer Night's Dream Levi's advertisement in full and clips from the BBC hospital soap Holby City. This programme is designed for use by English and Media Studies teachers with students. The advert and the soap are separately analysed by key professionals involved in their actual production. They explain in some detail how and why key decisions were taken behind the scenes in terms of cast, script, music and shots.
