Interactive Quiz of the Year 2017

Interactive Quiz of the Year 2017

An interactive (don't worry all instructions are in the notes panel for each slide) 23 slide PowerPoint based quiz covering a range of things from 2017. I have included some images in the files attached to give a preview. Included are; Two rounds of family fortunes (including all noises and clickable answers) - you could take this and make more rounds [festive or not] from this template... An advent calendar of sports to name the winners of blue ribband events this year around the world... A number of 'mystery' people from 2017 that appear from behind a myriad of Christmas decorations covering their face... A round of matching the key events to given dates ... A round of can you spot the celebrity with a Christmas birthday?... A round of spot the winners from the reality TV shows of the year... Two rounds of higher or lower based on key numbers from 2017... The obligatory music round - spot the lyrics from the songs released this year with sound bite samples of the originals... And five rounds of 'word of the year' based on Countdown's letters game - another template you could easily adapt which includes working clock and 30 second music. I have decided to charge for this resource as it has taken me seven hours to compile (albeit on a snow day!). I have not included a scoring system, as every class is different. But I think that this would lend itself well to teams - the choice though I have left to you! Enjoy.

Year 11 GCSE Mentoring for under achieving students.

Year 11 GCSE Mentoring for under achieving students.

Can you mentor a small group of students to raise their aspirations and close the gap between those aspirations and their attainment? This is a free programme that I've put together for use in my school. It was used on students who were underachieving in three of more subjects. Effective mentoring programmes can boost students’ aspirations, confidence, self-belief and motivation. Crucially, mentoring programmes enhance participants ‘soft skills’- personality traits, social graces, communication, language, personal habits, friendliness, and optimistic outlook – which are increasingly important for success at school. Attached you have five activities - Target Setting, Exam Stress, Motivation, Revision Strategies and Organisational Skills. You will also find a student progress book to help monitor impact. If it is of use please let me know. Thanks and good luck! @MrDDelaney

Independent Learning Activities

Independent Learning Activities

STUCK FOR LEARNING ACTIVITIES FOR A STUDENT WHO IN NOT IN NORMAL LESSONS ? THIS MAY BE THE RESOURCE FOR YOU ! The booklet provides a series of activities which can be used for students who are not in normal lessons. Each of the activities provide a learning experience for students who are working on their own. This may be because they are in isolation or on detention, for example. Whilst there may occasionally be a need for teacher input, the activities are designed to be self-explanatory or reinforce prior learning. There are over 20 activities to complete in this booklet. It is aimed at Key Stage 3 students but would also be suitable for brighter KS2 students or less able KS4 students. The activities will provide clear outcomes making it easy for teachers to check that the work has been completed (and is correct). The activities cover a range of subjects from literacy and numeracy to Humanities and the Arts. Activities are one off activities but promote key skills and knowledge, together with some activities which promote thinking skills. This will enable the teacher to make choices as to what the students needs to complete, dependent upon factors such as ability, interest or the daily timetable of the student.
