These printable resources, (prints 2 per A4 sheet for crosswords and 1 per A4 sheet for wordsearch and define) are ideal starter or plenary tasks, allowing assessment for learning, checking recall of key vocabulary, spelling and content. These can be revisited at any point during the teaching of the unit to assess pupil knowledge retention. A step beyond standard wordsearches, these demand pupils provide a definition of the words they are searching for. Crosswords require attention to spelling and recall of content from clues provided. Also included are animated powerpoint slides, enabling self assessment or peer assessment. Word placement in the grid appears first for wordsearches, allowing teacher questioning of pupils to provide their definitions, which appear after a further click. - just drop these into your own presentations or check back for full lesson resources when these are uploaded. Wordsearches produced using an algorithm which checks and avoids any inappropriate words appearing in the grid, however, your own proofreading is a final check for the placement of any unintended words created by random letter combinations.
