The Race to Bethlehem! A Christmas Musical for EYFS/KS1

The Race to Bethlehem! A Christmas Musical for EYFS/KS1

The Race to Bethlehem is a heart-warming version of the Christmas story for younger children (ages 4 to 8) to perform. In the story we meet Farmer Dan’s pigeons and Fluff, a little pigeon who prefers walking to flying. Every year, the village farmers hold a race to Bethlehem for the pigeons and Fluff is determined to get there. On the way he meets Joseph and Mary, who are on their way to Bethlehem too… The Race to Bethlehem story is written simply for young children to learn easily. The 7 original songs are catchy and fun to sing, easy to learn and remember. In addition there are two well-known songs – Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (with an additional verse) and Away in a Manger. The script includes stage directions to help with your performance. I hope the children, their teachers and parents enjoy the story of Fluff’s journey to Bethlehem and his encounter with the Nativity story!

Ten Simple Classical Guitar Pieces Arranged for ukulele

Ten Simple Classical Guitar Pieces Arranged for ukulele

I have put together a collection of popular classical guitar tunes arranged for the ukulele. These are all relatively easy, and in fact the first three tunes are suitable for absolute beginners. These tunes will be familiar to guitar teachers and particularly useful to those who teach ukulele to children as an introduction to learning classical guitar. Again for low G, although the first piece is only on top three strings so suitable for soprano ukulele.

Kindergarten/1st Grade Music Lesson - Pitch/Melody Composition - Pumpkin Stew

Kindergarten/1st Grade Music Lesson - Pitch/Melody Composition - Pumpkin Stew

This is a great lesson plan for melodic composition for kindergarten or first grade. Students will learn a simple melody using three pitches in a minor key. Then students will be guided through comparing the three pitches and then create their own melody using three pitches. Note: You may have heard a different version of this song, and I want to be sure this resource meets your needs. Song lyrics by Sue Snyder. Used with permission. In this resource, pitches are notated as high, medium, and low (no absolute pitch names or solfege names are intended to be taught). In addition, this lesson makes a great review of quarter note, eighth notes, and quarter rest (ta, ti-ti, rest or ta, ta-di, rest). Versions with traditional and stick notation are included, though the lesson can be taught using only iconic notation. Assessments include stick notation, traditional notation, and iconic notation versions for differentiation. Though this composition lesson plan was written to match the pacing for kindergarten in my district, it would be appropriate for 1st grade in many districts as well. Included in this File • Detailed (yet editable) lesson plans for kindergarten. State (GA) GPS Standards, National Music Standards, and National Core Arts Standards are marked. Feel free to edit for other grade levels (this lesson would work well for first grade in many situations). • PowerPoint to guide the lesson - available in stick and traditional notation. • PDF version of the PowerPoint for you to import into your desired IWB (Absolutely NOT required to complete this lesson!). • Images for PERSONAL use to create your own variations with provided templates. • Assessment papers for students to create their own three-pitched melody. Versions with stick, standard, and iconic notation are included. • Coloring pages to print on the back of assessments for your early finishers. Please take a look at the preview and feel free to ask questions before purchasing. The lesson plans are completely editable so you may adjust them for your individual situation. Additional items you need to teach the lesson directly as written that are NOT included. • Pencils, Projector, non-pitched instruments (optional). Need a way to practice classifying instruments of the orchestra? Look no further! Cupid Competition is a super fun game your students will beg to play! This instrument family game is a great way to practice the woodwind family, brass family, string family, and percussion family of instruments! It is perfect for a Valentine’s Day music activity or just for fun! Game: Lay out or hide the instrument hearts and facts around your room. Start the included PowerPoint timer. Students will race in teams to collect and sort instruments and facts about instrument families into the correct instrument family basket before the cupid collects his or her hearts! The winner is the group that collects the most cards in the correct basket! This would be GREAT for your instrument unit or even as a super fun sub plan! This resource includes: • Instrument Cards for 49 instruments. • Instrument Cards with names labeled for 49 instruments. • Instrument family fact cards (6 facts for each family). • All of the above in an ink saver black and white version. • Cupid Competition Directions • Cupid Competition PowerPoint timer. • Sub Plan directions. • Directions to create your own time intervals for the game.
