Culture Club: France

Culture Club: France

My aim was to bring in a bit of my modern foreign languages background when teaching my special education class. It is Autism friendly - as there is a clear sequence/structure and lots of visual support. The idea is to ‘visit’ countries around the world, learning facts - using English skills for reading, comprehension and writing; learn some simple language, and sample the culture. This is an example - I hope you like it - if you do, check out my bundles, Europe and Asia!

Amazing Women - Montessori 3 Part Cards

Amazing Women - Montessori 3 Part Cards

Women’s History Month begins on March 1st in the U.S.A. and these cards will help introduce your children to 16 of the most amazing women! My only problem in making these was trying to decide who to include. We could be easily rotating sets of these all month! (As a matter of fact, I suggest it so that the children don’t become too overwhelmed.) These are traditional three part cards, featuring two matching image cards and a label for each subject. There are 16 subjects, including Maria Montessori. I’ve also created a simple folder for these that you can print on card stock. Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out my work! Mary

Bucket Filler 20 minute class assembly about kindness and caring based on the book by Carol McCloud

Bucket Filler 20 minute class assembly about kindness and caring based on the book by Carol McCloud

Did you know that everyone carries an invisible bucket that can be filled by doing kind things? This 20 minute assembly is based on the book ‘have you filled a bucket today?’ by Carol McCloud (an amazing book that I would recommend to any teacher). There are enough short speaking parts for a class of 30+ and the script is fully editable. Your children will introduce the concept of bucket filling and dipping to their audience. Through short drama pieces, they will demonstrate the benefits of bucket filling and the negative impact of bucket dipping. So, ask yourself, have you filled a bucket today?
