This bundle is sufficient to teach Year 8 students the Key Stage 3 National Curriculum required learning on Metals and their Uses. The bundle includes five full PowerPoints (containing equipment lists for suggested practicals) plus associated resources sufficient to teach six full lessons (one is a double lesson PowerPoint). Suggested teaching order: Properties of Metals, Corrosion double lesson, Metals and Water, Metals and Acid, Pure Metals and Alloys.

Unit 2 Practical Scientific Procedures and Techniques 1. A Word Search of Key Terms: A Word Search to help introduce vocabulary associated throughout LOA. 2. A Word Search: A Word Search to help introduce vocabulary associated with LOA1 Laboratory Equipment. 3. A Digital Crossword: A crossword to consolidate understanding of various laboratory equipment used in science LOA1. These two activities will work well on an individual or pairs basis through computers or in paper-based format or use a SMART board for a whole group activity. All materials allow for differentiated learning and include the following: printable word search & crossword pdf & docx format interactive quizzes timed and non-timed (run index file in a *browser) Set of answers *(Please note that Safari and Microsoft Edge could not display interactive quizzes when tested) 4. Spot the Difference Games: Two Spot the Differences Games LOA1 Original image on left, click on the opposite image to identify differences. No time limit. Great activity for improving proofreading skills. Spot the difference resources are available in the following formats: swf, pdf & html Note: Ensure once downloads are unzipped that you keep ALL files in its folder and run one of the formats above. For html format pls run Index file or drag into URL bar in your browser. Images sourced under Creative Commons CC0. Seems to work best in Firefox, IE, Microsoft Edge or Safari. 5. General Graded Quiz Learning Outcome A • 10 questions, no time constraints but only 1 attempt allowed; learners have the opportunity to review their answers Great activity which assesses the learners’ understanding of Practical Scientific Procedures and Techniques associated with LOA of this unit. Important: Do not separate any of the original digital files from the original folders, just run them inside the folders for the games to work properly. You can also drag the index.html file into the browser to play. Note: Digital games do not seem to work well in Opera browser. All digital games also come in swf and pdf versions. Full lesson PowerPoint (with suggested practical activities) sufficient to teach a broad range of abilities about the reactions of metals with acids. The lesson is in keeping with the current KS3 UK National Curriculum, is easily accessible for students and simple to follow for teachers.
