Our recent QA visit to Hong Kong

In March 2026, Dave Potts, Head of iQTS Programme Delivery at Tes Institute, visited Hong Kong as part of our established QA process. These visits ensure that  our iPGCE provision remains rigorous, consistent and responsive to the needs of schools and iPGCE students.

Dave worked alongside our team of assessors to gain direct insight into programme delivery in practice.

“It’s been fantastic to witness first-hand the lived experience of a small cross-section of our Tes Institute international tutors, iPGCE students, mentors, leaders and assessors. The Tes iPGCE is very popular in Hong Kong - apparently the word here is, ‘Tes is the place to go’.

Thanks to the calibre and dedication of our delivery teams, our iPGCE students’ professional growth is palpable.”

— Dave Potts, Head of Programme, iQTS

During his visit, Dave spent time with iPGCE students and mentors across a number of schools, including:

  • Chinese International School

  • ESF Beacon Hill School

  • Fukien Secondary School Affiliated School

  • The Independent Schools Foundation Academy

These settings provide our students with an exemplary teaching experience, allowing them to develop their practice and apply the theory they learn on their iPGCE course.

This work builds on previous quality assurance visits carried out by Andrew Locke, Head of Programme for our Assessment Only course, further reinforcing our long-term commitment to the region and the consistency of our approach.

“I had the pleasure of visiting schools across Hong Kong during my QA visits in June 2024 and 2025. It was a fantastic opportunity to see first-hand the fantastic teaching that is taking place in classrooms, build relationships with iPGCE students, school mentors and leaders as well as ensure consistency across our team of highly skilled and experienced assessors based in Hong Kong.

The reception I received from schools and iPGCE students was always warm and welcoming and they are highly complementary about the high-quality programme and the remote and in person support offered through our well established IPGCE programme.”

— Andrew Locke, Head of Programme, Assessment Only

Our lasting commitment to excellence

Each year we work closely with a wide network of assessors, tutors and schools, strengthening relationships and ensuring a high-quality experience for all iPGCE students.

Our team of assessors, who live and work in Hong Kong, bring extensive experience to the course. They provide personalised guidance and constructive feedback, helping iPGCE students reach their full potential.

This hands-on support is complemented by online guidance from Tes personal tutors and dedicated course leaders, ensuring every student has the resources they need to succeed.

“Our continued success in Hong Kong is built on strong relationships with schools, rigorous quality assurance and a clear commitment to excellence. Since 2019, we have developed a sustainable and impactful presence in the region, ensuring that our iPGCE not only meets global standards but delivers real value to schools and teachers on the ground.”
— Alison Lawton, Head of Programme, iPGCE

We are grateful to the schools, mentors, and students who continue to collaborate with us, contributing to the ongoing success and positive impact of the Tes and University of East London iPGCE in Hong Kong.
