The Rosedale Hewens Academy Trust was formed in June 2011 and now sponsors a family of secondary and primary schools in Hayes and the immediate area. Given its proven track record of success, the Trust is now held in high regard having played a critical part in driving the improvement agenda locally. At the very centre of this Trust is Rosedale College, an oversubscribed 11-19 provider, judged by Ofsted (2010) to be ‘outstanding’. Recently, for example, every student completing Key Stage 4 at Rosedale achieved 5 A*- C grades or more at GCSE or equivalent, with 74% of the cohort achieving at least 5 A*- C grades including English and Mathematics.
Similar progress has been made at Hewens College, where GCSE examination results have shown meteoric improvement since rebranding and academy conversion. In its inaugural year, the College saw 64% of students achieving 5 or more A*-C grades at GCSE including English and Mathematics; results which represent an uplift of some 25% on those achieved by the predecessor school.
The Trust is committed to delivering a curriculum which is broad and balanced, rich and varied, being flexible and responsive to each child’s wider needs. With this in mind, Parkside Studio College opened in September as one of twelve schools commissioned in 2012/13 nationally, offering a range of vocational courses for 14-19 year olds.
Hewens Primary School is due to open as a 2 form entry free school on the Hewens College campus in September 2013. This will complement the Primary School already established at Rosedale College which is due to move into purpose built accommodation in September 2014. The Academy Trust has also agreed to sponsor Brookside Primary School which has recently expanded to provide much needed primary school places in Yeading.
All of this describes the emerging strategic role that the Trust has now established locally, underpinning one of its fundamental beliefs that children thrive in small educational settings where they are each known as individuals. Across the provision, the Trust promotes a calm and ordered environment where children are encouraged to become confident, caring and articulate using their aptitudes and abilities to the full. We aim to provide inspirational standards of teaching and learning and actively engage with parents, guardians and carers to ensure that every child succeeds.
