IB Maths AI HL - Complete Notes

5 Resources
If you want a preview, try the first (SL) topic of the new course for free Handwritten notes on the recently changed syllabus for IBDP Maths for first exams in 2021 - this is the Applications and Interpretation HL course (A&I HL / AIHL). It is 112 pages long - 19 on Algebra, 16 on Functions, 26 on Trig/Geometry, 28 on Stats/Probability, 23 on Calculus. So it is far more concise than the ~1000 pages of an HL textbook. It is split into 5 topics, which all have the SL content within them as a subset. There will also be significant overlap with the Analysis & Approaches course. This is the final course of the four that we have in this shop, finished in time for the 2023 May exams. It contains many concepts not touched by the old core courses at all, like graph theory, voronoi diagrams, matrices, phase portraits, etc. TOPICS: 1 - Algebra 2 - Functions 3 - Trigonometry and Geometry 4 - Statistics and Probability 5 - Calculus Please ‘follow’ my shop, so you will be notified when other notes become available in the future. Please let me know if you have any feedback or improvements that could be made.

Year 12 A Level Statistics and Mechanics Powerpoint

(2)
This 270 slide Powerpoint covers all of the first year of the single A Level Applied course (based upon the Edexcel course). It includes explanations, worked examples and questions for students to do. I have included everything, possibly more than you may need but I’d rather give people the option to skip a slide than have to make something up on the spot. Colleagues of mine used this during the first year of the new course. The “Forces and Motion” part has been edited.

Adding and Subtracting with Vectors Matching cards

(4)
A three way matching card resource in the Standards Unit style - the first cards have images of two vectors labelled either a and b or a and -b, the second set of cards give the column vectors of a and b to match to the pictures (note b is given even when the picture shows -b for added difficulty) and then the third set has the result of the vector addition/subtraction to match to the previous two. There are 6 additions and 6 subtractions altogether. Use an alternative resource to introduce or revise column vectors or adding and subtracting with vectors at GCSE or A-Level.

A short worksheet to assess my bottom set Year 10’s understanding of Speed, Velocity and Acceleration. Helped to highlight the fact that just because an object is accelerating faster, does not mean it is traveling faster. Questions repeated so 2 can be printed per page. Answers are on the third page.

Here is my power point trying to structure questions for M1 from past papers. I have split the paper into 6 sections and tried to group questions together. For use by giving to pupils and leaving them to it, or working through topics as a class. Every question from 2006-2018. Also works extremely well on iPads.

Vector Investigation

(1)
This assignment developed from my intention to write some original questions for my Geometry and Trigonometry students, I found that the decisions process was much more instructive than the resulting questions. Hence I chose to set this task requiring the students to create a storyline themselves using Position and Velocity vectors. It also addresses literacy across the curriculum requirements.
