All kids would love to design their dream bedroom or dream treehouse, so these area and perimeter practice activities will spark their imagination and creativity! Plus, they’ll get plenty of practice at applying concepts of perimeter and area. There are two different design options – a dream bedroom and a dream treehouse, so you can choose one or the other, or use both. Each design comes with options for perimeter, area, or perimeter and area. Measurements include centimetres and inches, and area also includes square units. Students choose the items they’d like to add to their dream bedroom or treehouse, draw them on the grid, then measure and record the area and/or perimeter. Recording sheets are included but these are optional as children can easily write their answers in their workbooks if you prefer. Just print and go! What’s included? Design a dream bedroom perimeter (cm and inch) area (square units, cm, inch) perimeter and area (cm and inch) Design a dream treehouse perimeter (cm and inch) area (square units, cm, inch) perimeter and area (cm and inch) Anchor charts: area (cm and inch), perimeter (cm and inch) Exit ticket Teaching points U.K and U.S versions 28 pages included Ideas for use: whole-class activity maths centre stations early finishers I hope you enjoy using this activity with your learners.

Area and perimeter Zoo project.

(1)
Area and perimeter zoo project. This is great for teaching area and perimeter or as an after SATs project. The project is split into the following steps for the children: Step 1. You will need to design your zoo using the measurement requirements provided. Step 2. You will need to price up the cost it will take to build your zoo and buy the animals. You must stay within budget. Step 3. You will then work out how much it cost to run your zoo per week. You will need to look at staffing costs, feeding the animals and running costs. Step 4. You will need to price your entrance tickets. Be careful, high pricing will deter customers but low prices will not earn you any money! Step 5. Does your zoo create a profit or loss each week? Calculate if your zoo generates a profit, to do this you will need to subtract the running costs from the money you will receive from guests, the café and gift shop. Step 6. Design your zoo logo.
