I am holding a whole-school growth mindset afternoon to continue raising the profile of the mindsets and how they can impact success. I created this powerpoint, which includes 10 mindset activities for teachers to choose activities from. Activities relate to various different subjects and are fun and engaging ways for pupils to develop their understanding of growth and fixed mindsets.

Afternoon of The Elves is a complete 81 page novel study guide. The guide is presented chapter-by-chapter and includes the following distinct sections: Before You Read, Vocabulary, Comprehension Questions (including many higher-level thinking questions); Activities. A list of activities, statutory requirements and resources for English, Maths and afternoon lessons. These have also been put into year groups, therefore there is a wide range (some may cross over). For English, I have listed only a few suggested activities but each one shows how it is linked to the National Curriculum (shows it has purpose if teachers or Ofsted come into your classroom). For Maths, there are so many tasks/activities you can do, therefore I have put down the statutory requirements that you can look at and create and activity from. This is a Reading Comprehension packet to go along with the Magic Tree House Book #6: Afternoon on the Amazon. I have used it with First and Second grade students. There is a cover page to make each student a packet, along with a comprehension page for each chapter. There is a page to preview the book and a page at the end for the students' thoughts on the book. I have used the packet with both a small group of students and with a whole class at one time. You can differentiate when you use the packet. The more independent students can work on the book and packet on their own or with a partner, while you work with the students who need more direction and help. In the packet, I have included different types of reading comprehension questions and activities, such as Text-to-Self (text, world) connections, Predicting, Visualizing, Character Traits, and different styles of questions. I have the packet for Book #1 listed for FREE so you can see what a packet is like. This resource contains a Good Afternoon Work Book / Greeting Book that is a great activity to use on a daily basis with your student(s). This book will help students to settle down and get ready to focus for their afternoon work. Many students may struggle with the transition in the afternoons, especially after playtimes, so by providing this work book as anchor in their daily afternoon routine, it will help them to settle quicker. It is individualised so each student can have their own copy. The document comes as a keynote or powerpoint file. You can add on different wording and add pictures of your student etc. but please note you will not be able to add/change/extract any form of clipart/imagery/text from this document.
