I made this to introduce my lesson on festivals. The images include: Christmas, Eid, Glastonbury, Diwali, Chinese NY, Rio Carnival, Holi, Spanish Tomato festival, New Year in Sydney, the Ganges, Sikh procession and Australia day.

Where I work, whole school activities like sportdays etc. are organised in 4 house teams. Each team has their own colour and are named after four famous Spanish artists: Fransisco de Goya, Joan Miró, Salvador Dalí and Pablo Picasso. I always start the Year 7s off with a ´house artist project´ where they learn about these four artists. I created this powerpoint presentation providing some interesting information about their famous pieces of work: The Third of May 1808, Harlequins Carnival, The Persistence of Memory and La Guernica.

Perfect at Easter. Both Spanish and French. Borrowed a Spanish quiz on TES and adapted added rounds and made it Easter-like!! Starter: Information exchange, pupils have a card they have 3-4 mins to go around the room and exchange information. They ask questions and give the answers and if they don't know the answer they like the fact they can say I don't know!! Once a piece of info has been exchanged, whether that person knew the answer or not they should exchange dominoes and move on. Collect in dominoes and tell them to remember as much as they can. Then do quiz!! EASY!

This resource introduces the polyrhythmic style of Latin American Samba and identifies its roots in African and Spanish/Portuguese music. Through performing Samba pupils will learn the sounds and understand the roles of each instrument used in Samba and experience the exhilaration and physical impact of percussion ensemble music. This unit is based on 6 hour long sessions, but this can be altered to suit the teaching requirements. The sequence of learning activities have been written only as a guideline.

Click again and the picture appears. Click a third time and the word in Spanish appears. Blockbusters – students complete to say the target vocabulary to cross from one side of the board to another. A unit of work all about the country of Spain. Written with year 4 in mind, but easily adaptable up or down

As the topic of where you live can be a bit boring we get our students to do presentations on a Latin American capital city-great practice for orals and good cultural input. In fact it could become a CA if you wanted it to. In the build up we use some or all of these resources. When they are doing the presentations the rest of the class have to fill in a listening grid, can be devised by students.

15 topic lessons based around Italy and the Romans for a low - average ability year 2 class. I have included national curriculum links and all resources to go with the topic that I have referred to in the planning. I am an NQT and would really like some feedback on my planning and resources. I have used some ideas from other TES users combined with my own. Some resources have been sourced from TES and other websites as well as making my own power points and activity sheets. I hope this planning is useful!

This is part of my resources for Caribbean music, focusing on Calypso and Salsa. I'll upload the other genres soon. There&'s the revision guide for each topic as well as the main musical resource for each. I recorded and programmed the Salsa one on logic but could only upload MP3 so I&';ve done a version where you can hear each instrument being added gradually. This works really well in collaboration with the score provided. The tracks for the listening test can be found at the bottom of the test. The Presi is what I used to deliver it - hopefully the youtube parts work! Comments please!

This resource looks briefly at the life of Benjamin Zephaniah and his work on poetry based on slavery.

Read some poems from We are Britain by Benjamin Zephaniah and ask what these children have in common. Discover where in the world children in the class came from originally – locally, elsewhere in Britain, another country? Write poetry about each other in BZ style.

First show the slide, then read out the information from the word document then show the clip. There is no clip for the naked man festival for obvious reasons. The assembly lasts about 20-25 minutes.

These activities and quizzes were designed for a group of very low functioning students of secondary age. They are designed mostly for fun and to provide a brief overview of each country/culture. Could be a useful activity for tutor time in special needs schools.
