A link to a Youtube video has been provided as part of this resource (please ensure you have access to youtube prior to use) This resource also makes reference to the 2026 Holocaust Memorial Day theme of ‘Bridging Generations’. The utmost care has been taken to ensure this resource has been created with the utmost respect to the victims of the holocaust and to ensure that students have the opportunity to connect and empathise to the human beings to whom the attrocities of the holocaust were committed. There a no images or corpses in this resource - however the murder of victims is discussed. I really hope you enjoy delivering this assembly and that your students find it engaging and valuable. If you are able to leave a review once you have taught it, I would be really grateful. Teaching Holocaust in history? Check out lessons from my scheme of work! This timeline activity is a hands-on visual way for students to see the changes that have been made in the history of flight, from the first hot air balloons to the modern passenger Boeing 747, or from the first hot air balloon to landing on the Moon. There are two main options with a timeline that focuses on flight and the development of planes, or flight, planes, and space travel. The timeline has four differentiated options so that you can meet the needs of your students or there is the option to make a foldable version which is a mini-book that could be taped into the students’ books or they could take it home. What’s included? World War II This lesson sets out to explain how Hitler set Germany on the road to the Second World War in 5 steps. Students are challenged to find out how and why was he able to defy the Treaty of Versailles so easily with little or no consequences (shown through a causal spider’s web). Students analyse video footage and a number of sources, using the COP technique (modelled for student understanding) which has proved invaluable for evaluating sources at GCSE. A final chronological recap of the events and evaluation of the most and least important of the events that led to war, will give students an in depth understanding of why World War 2 started. This lesson is ideal as preparation for GCSE if you are embedding source skills or teaching the interwar years or WWII at Key stage 4. It is enquiry based with a key question using a lightbulb posed at the start of the lesson and revisited throughout to show the progress of learning. The resource includes retrieval practice activities, suggested teaching strategies and differentiated materials and comes in PowerPoint format if there is a wish to adapt and change.

The Globe Theatre Revision Guide - AQA GCSE Historic Environment Question 2026

(0)
This Revision Guide on the Globe Theatre is aimed at students to help them study, revise and be prepared for the AQA Elizabethan Historic Environment question for 2026. I have broken down the main details into manageable chunks using an amalgamation of P words including place, patronage, protests, popularity and purpose. This guide has been revised from my 2019 version and these P words focus on the main concepts of location, function, structure, design, people connected to the Globe, the culture, values and fashions of the time and how the site links to important events of the period. There is clearly a lot more information in the AQA guidance now included from 2019, such as the construction and function of the Globe, the surrounding theatres and their patrons, the famous actors and companies linked to each and the messages included in the plays written. I have added this to expand the Guide from 6 to 8 pages and considered the exam questions that may be asked. Therefore, this Revision Guide on the Globe Theatre is perfect for busy teachers as it includes all the key information needed and is tailored to support students of all abilities. Furthermore, with a strong emphasis on how the site connects to the broader themes of the Elizabethan era, this resource will not only save you hours of planning but also help students gain a deeper understanding of how to approach the Historic Environment question with clarity and precision. The Guide comes in Word and PDF format and can be edited and changed if required. Please feel free to edit and adapt the guide if needed. I would welcome any reviews on this resource, which would be much appreciated.
