This is an interactive lesson that introduces the concept of a balanced diet. Students are introduced to Carbohydrates, Lipids and Proteins. They then learn to read food labels, processing information in order to complete a Venn Diagram.

By the end of the lesson students should appreciate the importance of having a balance of nutrients within a meal and be able to suggest components of a balanced meal.


The resources include a lesson Powerpoint, a lesson plan and a sheet to complete during the activity.


You will need a selection of food labels for students to examine. You could ask them to bring in a few for homework.
