Apple Dice Patterns Worksheets Activities

This is a cut and paste activity whereby students work out the sequence of patterns using a set of apple-themed dice.
The following patterns are as follows:

• Worksheet 1: (red apples) AB – finish the pattern with 1 die
• Worksheet 2: (red apples) AB – finish the pattern with 1 die
• Worksheet 3: (green apples) AB - finish the pattern with 2 dice
• Worksheet 4: (green apples) AB -finish the pattern with 2 dice
• Worksheet 5: (green apples) AB – Various pattern positions
• Worksheet 6: (yellow apples) AABB
• Worksheet 7: (yellow apples) AABB
• Worksheet 8: (yellow apples) AAB and ABB
• Worksheet 9: (yellow apples) AAB and ABB
• Worksheet 10 (red apples) ABC

Optional: The black and white worksheets are the same as the color worksheets. If you use the b/w worksheets then students will have an extra task of coloring the apples before they work out the sequence of dice:

• Students should follow the instructions and color the apples as directed.
• Now, they can work out the apple-themed dice patterns and cut and paste the dice in the correct sequence.

NB: The b/w worksheets show US spelling of color and a set showing UK spelling of colour.

Independent work: Create your own patterns:

Students are given the opportunity of creating their own patterns.

There are worksheets with blank strips and two sheets of dice for students to create their own apple-themed dice patterns.

Students can describe what patterns they have created, e.g. is it an AB or ABB? Students can work together and try and work out each other’s patterns.
