A simple activity asking students to look at the distribution of certain types of trees in a fictional forest. Allows students to see how various types of tree can be distributed, while also showing them how one map can be used to create layers of other maps. The trees were selected based on the shapes of the leaves, not on their likelyhood of being found together or apart in an actual forest. The activity was desiged to use with students on the Austism spectrum, hence the Special Needs notation, however it is appropriate as an introductory activity for mainstream students.
