Differentiate with Writing for Success
In the simplest of terms, differentiation is an educator’s attempt at offering variety amongst his/her students to achieve similar criteria or results. In the end, differentiation’s goal is to provided the most beneficial and rewarding learning experience possible to each individual student.

Here at Wake Up Sunshine, we're offering this new and creative writing program to work within a student's abilities and parameters. The program is divided into three symbols (developing, at or slightly above grade level, and exemplary). For each form of writing, there are three levels to choose from. The topics (claims) are adjusted to meet the student's current writing level. For example, for Expository writing the three prompts are as follows:

Exemplary (requirement three paragraph essay)
There’s no denying the health benefits of a vegetarian diet, but for those who love the taste of meat this can be difficult. What are some ways to liven up vegetarian recipes so that even meat lovers will be satisfied?

At or slightly above grade level (requirement 10 - 12 sentence paragraph)
What’s a good recipe to follow, which is filling and sticks to vegetarian criteria?

Developing (6 - 8 sentence paragraph)
What’s a good meat substitute for vegetarian dishes?

As shown, for each writing style, the topics are scaffolded so the students are all working within similar parameters, regardless of their writing level. In all, there are nearly 160 writing prompts! Additionally, there is a simple holistic rubric for ease of grading and a graphic organizer for each of the three writing levels.

In all, this innovative and affordable writing program offers the educator the flexibility to allow students to work and develop their writing skills within their comfort levels, allowing them to flourish into proficient writers.
