Is there a simple method for working out terms in number sequences? Sequences can be non-linear, linear and constant. The activity sheet can be completed by the students visually, by adding on the number of dots/ squares to each shape in turn.

Students can learn the difference method through using the supplied Excel worksheet. They can find out that working out successive differences non-linear sequences can be reduce to linear ones and finally to constants. These can be graphed.
