KS2 History - Mary Seacole Profile and Writing Task
This resource contains detailed information on Mary Seacole, who set up a ‘British hotel’ to support wounded soldiers during the Crimean War. Whereas Florence Nightingale was given support for her hospital from the British Government, Seacole was refused help and funded the venture herself, often offering her nursing services for free. This resource has comprehension and discussion questions for pupils to explore their understanding. There is also a suggested writing task for pupils to extend their comprehension skills and to practise creative writing. This resource contains two sheets, one for early stage readers and one for more advanced readers.
