This item includes two demonstrations for a unit on light:

  1. Mixing Colors of Light

In this demonstration, student volunteers will show that mixing the three primary colors of light yield unexpected results.

Time: 20 min
Materials: Projector, 3 small mirrors

  1. The Effect of Light Color on an Object

In this demonstration, the teacher will show that the color of a light source can greatly affect the perceived color of an object, such as department stores using bulbs that cause skin to look more tan, or jewelry stores using bulbs that make their gems sparkle.

Time: 10 min
Materials: Projector, various colors of construction paper

The file includes instructions for both demonstrations, as well as two images, which are used in the demos.
