I have organised the new NC into strand by subject, broken down into what year covers what topics (eg. what is expected for writing in Literacy for each year group). Hope you find it useful! It is quite a long document and wouldn't format how I would have liked, but useful nonetheless.
Although levels are on the way out, my school are currently keeping levels. I have updated the APP grids to take account of additional expectations for different year groups. In essence it makes it harder to achieve a certain level. The new additions are in red for your info.
This is a game that I have long played in my mind when I'm in a gallery. Look at an artwork, decide what you think it is about. Look at the title. Does it change the meaning of the artwork? Sometimes it doesn't but when it does it can be a real eureka moment!
This worksheet asks students to do just that! Some exhibitions lend themselves more to this than others and it is worth doing a recce before you use this resource.
A really fantastic place-mat to support writing about art. Simply ask you students to write a sentence about each of the categories e.g. line, tone, texture etc using the adjectives provided. This has been designed to work with any artwork. An example is also included on the place-mat using Klimt's 'The Kiss'.
I always tell students that they don't need to limit themselves to the words on the list, so this provides support for those who need it but also lets other students fly!
This could also be used for gallery education.
