The Art of Mathematics - African Tribal Masks
The Art of Mathematics looks at a variety of artists and styles of art. For each artistic style we give a brief history of origin, links to examples of the style and ideas for mathematical activities to go with specific styles. This article looks at African Tribal Masks which were made of various materials including leather metal fabrics and wood. They were made to be used rather than works of art as such. Activities are used to explore the golden ratio through the face.
