The Art of Mathematics - Kenneth Nowland
The Art of Mathematics looks at a variety of artists and styles of art. For each artist we give a brief history of their life, links to examples of their work and ideas for mathematical activities to go with specific works. This article looks at the work of Kenneth Nowland. The geometric, regular design of many of Noland’s paintings lends itself well to inspiring mathematical activities in the classroom. Noland’s chevron paintings fit well with work on classifying, estimating and measuring angles in Key Stage 2.
