The study of populations and demographics is explained in detail in this introductory series by Professor David Coleman. Using statistics gathered from censuses, parish records and other sources, he looks at the ways in which populations rise and fall through history. In this ninth lecture, he discusses family planning in the developing world. There are 4 sets of questions (Number, Algebra, Shape, Data) which are mainly A and A* (with some lower grade questions from topics which students struggle with, e.g. percentages, constructions). PLEASE REVIEW / COMMENT. Students work in pairs or small groups to answer the questions. When they finish a question they get it marked and if it is correct they are given cash to the value of the question. There are bank notes which you can put your school name and pictures of your teachers on. The team with the most money at the end could be given a prize.
New for 2016: a MUST for all KS2 primary schools + children preparing for SATs! This resource allows a student to choose a weak topic area of theirs (personalised learning) from a menu of 48 topics and instantly opens a PDF of past SATs questions specific to that topic. All 48 topic PDFs are housed on my Google drive account which can only be accessed via this single file. All questions contain a Youtube Button next to them, so if a student needs help, they simply HIT THE YOUTUBE button to zoom off to a mini Youtube tutorial specific to that question on GHammond's Youtube channel. The Youtube channel has over 140,000 hits and rising from those who used it during last year's SATs. Also included are the One-A-Day Mini Maths Vidamins for Y5+ Y6 and links to Thinking Outside theBox puzzle videos! This single PDF could easily be placed on single computers in a school or networked or even placed on a school website for maximum impact and usage! It could be used in whole class lessons in an ICT suite or from the comfort of a student's own living room on their tablet. Schools placing it on their website would be giving students the ability to access and revise for their SATs from home across multiple platforms - laptops, tablets and phones. Students could even revise on their phone on a car journey! P.S. The ginger haired boy on the file is a picture of me from 1986! Since starting the new 9-1 Maths course using the Pearson Higher Textbook ('Practice, Reasoning and Problem solving Book') I have been creating these worksheets for my students to revise for end of chapter tests. They have proved very successful and so I have taken the time to pack them all together and provide answers in this bundle resource.
Each worksheet is double sided taking about a lesson to complete covering the key skills from each Chapter. They follow the same Scheme as the Pearson textbook but could easily be used more generally, particularly as revision near the end of the year.
This bundle includes Chapters 1-8, I will be producing another bundle that will include Chapters 9-19 soon.
Chapter 1- Number, Chapter 2 - Algebra, Chapter 3 - Interpreting and representing data, Chapter 4 - Fractions, ratio and percentages, Chapter 5 - Angles and trigonometry, Chapter 6 - Graphs, Chapter 7 - Area and Volume, Chapter 8 - Transformations and Constructions.
