Countdown to the Cosmic Classroom

Preparations are well underway for the Cosmic Classroom live link-up with British ESA astronaut Tim Peake on the International Space Station on the afternoon of 2 February*. The big event will start at 2pm GMT and will last an hour.

Find out more information about the timings and structure of the broadcast below.

What's happening?

The World Museum in Liverpool is playing host to the Cosmic Classroom live event and we’re over the moon to announce space medicine scientist and TV personality, Dr Kevin Fong, as our expert presenter.

There will be 11 classes from schools around the country in the audience at the museum, who will be watching and taking part just like the pupils in your class.

Tim Peake will also be answering questions posed by schools via the video messages they sent to us earlier this month!

In the meantime, get your pupils excited and engaged in the lead-up with these colourful fact cards on space, the ISS and our solar system and decorate your classroom with these solar system cut-outs.

We hope you’re as excited as we are about this phenomenal event! Keep an eye on the Cosmic Classroom website for the latest updates.

*The live event is set to take place on 2 February 2016 but due to the nature of space and life on the ISS, this date is subject to change at very short notice. TES, ESA and UKSA will endeavour to give as much notice as possible if the event is delayed or cancelled.
