Edexcel 9-1 CC6a Covalent bonding with hula hoops and air flow balls (OR WHITEBOARD) Lower ability

Edexcel 9-1 CC6a Covalent bonding with hula hoops and air flow balls (OR WHITEBOARD) Lower ability

Edexcel 9-1 CC6a Covalent CompoundsThis lesson was for my bottom set year 9's - they just could not understand covalent bonding therefore I took it to the next level. I ordered 12 hula hoops (outer shells) and 48 airflow balls (electrons)I dismantled the hula hoops so they could be taken apart and then put back together and the airflow balls could be added to the outer shells. This is a step - by - step guided lesson. IF hula hoops and airflow balls are not available this can be carried out on WHITEBOARDS so it can be used by everyone. Edexcel CC6 Covalent bonding for the new 9-1 GCSELearning objectives: To know how covalent bonds are formedTo be able to explain how a covalent bond is formed using dot and cross diagramsTo understand how to work out molecular formulaeAll extension questions available on each slideAnswers all underneath each slide Support also available where necessary AfL sections and mini quizzesReducing the need for photocopyingMain topics include: - Covalent compounds - how they are formed- working out molecular formulaeAll relating to specification (any pictures used have all been taken from the internet and I am not trying to claim rights to any pictures or information used) Enjoy !!!!Please leave a comment and rate
