The Perfect Tense Card Race

The Perfect Tense Card Race

Print out the cards and laminate them. Pupils work in pairs or small groups and race against each other to form the perfect tense with the cards after reading the infinitive and the subject from the PowerPoint. Good element of competition and really highlights how much (or little!) they actually know. Includes avoir and être verbs and agreement. Can be easily adapted to suit your requirements too.

I tried to select a nice topic and theme to teach and revise various skills and grammatical aspects . It links to Expo3 ( la Normandie ) rouge with the discovery of an area but I jaust added more on this so students get to compare areas and see how varied France is. I will add more through a different power point and add worksheets , this is taking ages .... hope it helps. I used the interactive quiz with the gap fill as a little starter and introduction about the Alps before showing the Power Point.

French Basics Crossword (End of Year Revision Fun!)

French Basics Crossword (End of Year Revision Fun!)

A large (100+ clues) crossword puzzle featuring lots of basic French vocabulary. This is ideal for group work, with children perhaps competing against other groups to solve the puzzle as fast as possible. It works well as a fun revision task, perhaps at the end of a term or at the end of the year. Any clues not managed could perhaps be looked up online or in a French dictionary. It's fine in A4 but if you are using it with a larger group you might want to print in A3. The clues are in separate files and have been included in PDF and Word. The solutionis included in the same file as the empty crossword. This activity would suit a range of age groups, depending on their level of French experience. Most of the words come from these topics:calendar (le calendrier) - days (les jours de la semaine), months (les mois), dates etc.numbers (les nombres / les numeros / les chiffres)introductions and greetingsweather (la meteo / le temps)classroom objects (les objets de la classe)colours (les couleurs)I hope you enjoy using this with your class. If you can spare a moment I would be grateful for a review. Thank you.For lots more engaging, great value Maths, Literacy and French resources, visit FullShelf Resources

Qu'est ce que tu as fait pendant les vacances? - past tense

Qu'est ce que tu as fait pendant les vacances? - past tense

I created this resource for my Year 9, mixed ability French class to teach the perfect tense in the context of holidays. The reading challenge is differentiated and the questions are designed to be cup into strips and stuck into students' books. The learning conversation slide (Slide 14) was included to get students to reflect on their 1st draft of their answer to the question. The link to the quiz is not mine but you should be able to link to a similar quiz yourself. Hope it's helpful!

Life cycle of a frog in French bundle

Life cycle of a frog in French bundle

The “Life Cycle of a Frog – French” unit comes with the following: • unit summary with suggested uses• dyslexia-friendly PowerPoint (with audio) introducing the four stages of a frog, the word for “becomes” and simple sentences outlining the life cycle of a frog • clear vocabulary list • two sets of high-quality labelled photo flashcards (one with the four stages, the other set with simple sentences) • cutting, sticking and colouring worksheet of the four stages of a frog • make your own lily pad craft activity • life cycle of a frog matching cards • life cycle of a frog booklet Suggested use: 1. Use the PowerPoint to introduce the life cycle and check for comprehension (slide 3). Use slides 4-7 to introduce the four stages of the life cycle in French. Using slide 8, see if pupils can guess the meaning of “devient”. If the class is coping well, use slides 9-13 to introduce the four stages in sentences. *Make sure you have the “notes” section visible for additional vocabulary support if you need it. 2. Slide 14 onwards can be used as an identification game. Show the class the photos and see if they can identify in French which part of the life cycle is shown. 3. Photo flashcards can be used as part of a wall display or as a stimulus for an art-based project for pupils to create their own images. 4. Use the cutting, sticking and colouring worksheet to check for comprehension of the order of the life cycle. 5. Matching cards are a more supported comprehension activity as each part of the life cycle has a unique edge to help with matching. 6. Both the lily pad craft activity and the frog booklet can be used to create beautiful items to be used as part of a display to exhibit what the class has been doing. GCSE French Translation and Reading Workbook

GCSE French Translation and Reading Workbook

88 page workbook plus separate book containing answers. This resource uses texts from the old specification foundation reading GCSE papers (AQA and Edexcel). It is organised into 9 sections - topics from the new specification GCSE (both AQA and Edexcel). This workbook could last the students for their entire GCSE course, using the worksheets as you go through each of the topics.Alternatively, it could be used for cover lessons, homework, revision, or extension activities. It is designed to help students with their reading and translation skills. Students read the texts, then translate in the tables underneath, then complete the task which was originally on the exam papers. The sentences are divided into bitesize chunks in the tables to enable students to read and translate more easily. This is challenging for even the A*/Grade 7-9 students and makes them focus on vocabulary, sentence structure and creating 'proper' English sentences from French texts.
