#### KS3 Circles-Rescue the princess-adventure game

Adventure game in which students answer KS3 circle questions in order to rescue a princess. Teacher notes and answers are provided. There are 5 sections, each with 2 topics. They have 4 attempts at each topic, if they get all 4 wrong, the game ends and they will have to start again. The 5 sections are: parts of a circle, circumference, area, reverse questions: given circumference, find diameter and radius; given area, find radius and diameter. #### Area of a circle (with graphing component)

Students discover the relationship between the diameter of a circle and its area. They graph the results.

#### Area of a Parallelogram

This lesson allows pupils to practice the skill of finding the area of a parallelogram, aswell as reverse problems and compound shapes in a RAG Task. There are plenty of problem solving questions, reasoning questions to really stretch all pupils and challenge the more able.All tasks are differentiated to at least 3 levels. There are reasoning and problem solving tasks which are suitable for the new curriculum. All tasks have solutions so that it is easy for the pupils to mark their work. This has been used and allowed pupils to master the skill and for the more able to develop their understanding

#### Area of a Triangle

A series of lessons (2-3) on finding the area of a triangle. The lesson allows pupils to practice the basic skill but al calculate reverse problems and compound shape questions. There are also some reasoning tasks suitable for the new curriculum and algebraic problems to challenge the more able learners.All tasks are differentiated to at least 3 levels. There are reasoning and problem solving tasks which are suitable for the new curriculum. All tasks have solutions so that it is easy for the pupils to mark their work. A worksheet made in the style of Ben Cooper focusing on reversing area calculations to find missing lengths. The worksheet contains starters, a main task and an extension. Shapes involved include squares, rectangles, parallelograms, trapeziums, circles and compound shapes.

This is a series of lessons on finding the area of a rectangle. It starts off very basic by finding them by counting squares. Choose to explore Triangulum, which has easier questions on area of a parallelogram and a triangle, perimeter and area of a composite shape made from rectangles, surface area and volume of a cuboid. Then when completed, choose to explore Andromeda, which has more difficult problems involving perimeter of a rectangle and area of a triangle, area of a trapezium, surface area and volume of prisms.
