All 4 of my Four in a Row game packs for calculating change. Differentiated, illustrated boards, each featuring 36 prices in UK currency for children to calculate the change from one pound (£1), five pounds (£5), ten pounds (£10) and twenty pounds (£20). A fun, strategic activity for consolidating this key money skill.
Each of the 4 packs includes:
2 standard game boards (featuring different items and prices from each other)
2 lower ability game boards (the same boards as above but with mostly less challenging calculations)
Answer grids for all 4 game boards for at-a-glance checking for pupils or teacher
Intended to be laminated and used again and again. In this activity children can either work as pairs against pairs or one against one to get four correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. It works especially well if they roll a dice each time to find which column they have to pick a calculation from (the columns are numbered 1-6). If there are no questions left in the column whose number they have rolled, they could either skip a go or roll again. They could either use a different coloured whiteboard pen to record their answer on the board or add an initial or symbol if using the same coloured pen as the opponent. I recommend printing in A3 but they'll work fine in A4 too. The lower ability versions have a star next to the title but could perhaps be printed on different coloured card or paper if required.
I hope this saves you time and helps you make money learning fun. I would be very grateful for a review if you get a moment. Thank you.
