HALLOWEEN GERMAN STARTER VOCABULARY GAME CARDS with WHOLE-GROUP QUIZ really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their vocabulary and knowledge of high-frequency GERMAN VOCABULARY in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. Say an item in the bedroom at random in the target language and pupils raise their left hands if there’s a blue ‘L’ underneath the picture, their right hands if there’s a green ‘R’ underneath the picture and both hands if there’s a red ‘L&R’ underneath the picture.

This presentation starts by comparing how many own their own houses in the UK and Germany. Then, using the German logic, looking at the vocab of rooms in the house. There is then a team game to practise the new vocab and, finally, a matching activity.
