French Adjectives Les Adjectifs Activity

(0)
For MFL / FSL, KS3, KS4 or even adult language learners, this giant French Adjectives vocabulary crossword puzzle, is great for cover lessons, starters or early finishers activities or as an extension challenge activity after a focus on Les Adjectifs. Use this huge puzzle to revise and extend vocabulary. There are 116 words in the puzzle, all singular adjectives and a mixture of masculine and feminine spellings. PDF format - 16 pages. You could return to it over several sessions. This is low prep, great for collaboration, printable, differentiated, has an answer key, and there’s even an optional hidden sentence challenge! Best not used with absolute beginners, as it’s designed to review AND expand students’ existing vocabulary, to provide a challenge. Depending on experience and ability of students and level of support given, this can work with Key Stage 3 and 4 and beyond. Please click on the preview file to check suitability for your students. Fun: Giant crosswords are enjoyable to complete. Low prep: Great for sub lessons and busy times. Flexible: Can fill a whole lesson or more, or be completed over multiple days. Early finishers: Great as an early finisher activity or extension, maybe to be competed over several sessions. Collaboration: Although it can be used for individuals, it’s especially good for pairs or small groups. Differentiation: Alternative clue page & vocab support page. Challenge: Fun hidden sentence extension!   HOW TO DIFFERENTIATE THIS ACTIVITY: There are 2 versions of the clue sheets – one with just the word itself in English (to be translated into French) and an easier version with the first letter given. Choose whether to provide the alphabetical answer list, perhaps just to support certain students, or distribute it only when students have done as much as they can independently Consider using mixed-ability groups Decide whether to allow access to online or traditional dictionaries, perhaps later when students have completed as much as they can independently Consider whether to use the hidden sentence challenge version (students use a blank grid with stars printed on certain squares, and then put the letters together from the star boxes to spell out a hidden word). There are 2 versions of the recording sheet for this challenge, should you wish to use them, and separate answer keys Early finishers could be directed to online sources to check out the pronunciation of unfamiliar words Whatever you choose, I hope your students have as much fun completing it as I did compiling it! You might want to expand the crossword if using with larger groups but if you can’t, it will still work in standard size. YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE: French KS2 / KS3 MEGA BUNDLE 1

KS2 Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 maths BUNDLE of printable games and puzzles worksheets for place value. Build number sense with fun activities. The dice games features 4, 5, 6 and 7 digit numbers (thousands, ten thousands, hundred thousands, millions) and decimals to 1, 2 and 3 places (tenths, hundredths, thousandths). The puzzles feature 5, 6 and 7 digit numbers. Great for starters, early finisher tasks, extension challenges and homework. All in PDF format. Includes: 17 fun, challenging and strategic games 7 hidden word puzzles Great for differentiation within the same class or for different year groups   PLACE VALUE GAMES: Use as printed worksheets or else laminate (or use in dry-wipe sleeves) and complete with whiteboard pens Instead of playing in pairs, you might form small groups - pairs could play against pairs instead of one-versus-one and you might appoint a checker who can adjudicate (and then swap roles for the next game). Consider enlarging to A3 for larger groups. There is a mixture of Make the Biggest Number, Make the Smallest Number and Greater or Less Than games   Every turn, players can place the digit they throw on any row or column, until there are no vacant boxes remaining, prolonging the uncertainty! Keeping an eye on each other’s numbers as they form, players will begin to spot new tactics; for instance they might notice that a 1 placed in a thousands place might not be so costly if there’s a 9 in the ten thousands place, depending on what their opponent is doing on their grid. They can also practise saying their completed numbers aloud at the end.   If you don’t have a 0-9 dice, the games still work with a 1-6 dice. Alternatively: Use 0-9 spinners (I have included black and white and colour templates for your convenience) if you wish to make some Use digit cards (basic digit cards included in the file) Use a pack of playing cards (use Aces as 1 and Jacks as 0, put aside the Kings and Queens; shuffle the pack and take one card in turn)   Instructions are printed on the boards.   PLACE VALUE CROSS NUMBER PUZZLES: 2 for numbers up to ten thousands 2 for numbers up to hundred thousands 2 for numbers up to millions Differentiation: For each of 5, 6 and 7-digit numbers the first puzzle is for practising reading the word version and writing the digit version in the grid, while the second, more challenging puzzle for each involves adding and subtracting from large numbers (increase by 1000, take away five hundred thousand etc) Works in a similar way to a crossword puzzles but with numbers entered into the grid   Thank you very much for supporting my store.   YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE… Multiplication and Division Activities BUNDLE Maths Puzzles Worksheets HUGE BUNDLE Place Value CrossNumber Puzzles Decimal Activities KS2 BUNDLE Area and Perimeter Activities BUNDLE   Explore more at FullShelf Resources

Mental Maths Tests Year 4

(1)
Ideal starter mental maths tests or quizzes. NO PREP! This pack contains 15 Mental Arithmetic PowerPoint Speed Tests, originally designed for Lower Key Stage 2(KS2) - Year 4 (Y4) and, if the concepts have been taught, Year 3 (Y3) - and other equivalents (in Scotland that’s Primary 5 and 4). They will also suit some lower ability students in Years 5 and 6 (Primary 6 and 7). UPDATE: PDF versions of all tests are included as well as the original PowerPoints. Money calculations are in UK pounds but additional dollar versions of all resources are also included. Students enjoy trying to beat their previous scores. These informal tests are split across 3 PowerPoints and are designed to be shown on the whiteboard, with children recording answers in jotters or on paper. In each test or quiz there’s one question to a slide so children can focus on it for a few seconds before the next one comes up. The question slides are plain and uncluttered so as to minimise distractions. You can run the PowerPoint presentation on a timer if you wish - alternatively click it on yourself, perhaps allowing a little longer for more challenging calculations. Each test features 20 questions involving a variety of mathematical skills and knowledge. Alternatively, use the PDF versions. At the end of each test, there follows the same 20 slides repeated, this time with the answer added clearly. Students can then mark their own or a partner’s work to cut down on your workload. If short of time, you can whizz through the answers but the idea of each answer appearing with its question like this is that it allows for important discussions about strategies used. Concepts include: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, Times Tables, Doubling and Halving, Multiplying and Dividing by 10, Fractions, Place Value, Money, Measure, Time and Angles. The PowerPoint files are editable should you wish to amend any wording or change the odd question to better suit your class. Differentiation: I have called this Set B rather than used any other identifier to help facilitate the use of my Set A (originally designed for Upper KS2) with children within the same class without children being aware of the age level of the questions. Fun lesson activities for revision of Ordering Decimals, Mental Addition and Subtraction of Decimal Numbers, Multiplying and Dividing Decimals by 10, 100 and 1000 and Multiplying Decimals Using Times Tables Facts. Ideal for starters, warm ups, early finishers challenges, revision tasks and homework. All resources in PDF. Answers supplied where relevant. Please check individual resource pages and previews to see if these will meet your needs. Included resources: 7 Hidden Word / Spot the Mistakes Puzzles: Ordering (to two decimal places) Ordering (to three decimal places) Mental Addition and Subtraction (to one decimal place) Mental Addition and Subtraction (to two decimal places) Multiplying by 10, 100 and 1000 Dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 Multiplying using Times Tables Facts An engaging alternative to standard worksheets, these no prep puzzles can be completed individually or in pairs / groups. They are similar to codebreaker puzzles, with a maths-related word to be revealed after completing the calculations. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a decimals calculation and a letter. Students circle any boxes containing errors. Then they put together the letters from the remaining boxes to reveal a maths word. Students often forget or avoid checking their own work for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking the calculations in these puzzles. Spotting common errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves. Well-differentiated Decimal Place Value Four-in-a-Row Game Boards and Cards: Use for consolidation of decimal place value understanding and ordering decimal numbers (1, 2 and 3 decimal places). Includes: • Two sets of 54 decimal number cards featuring numbers from 0.001 to 2.01 (1 set includes numbers up to 2 decimal places, the other up to 3 decimal places) • Two A3 Four in a Row boards. The 1 star version was originally designed to go with the cards to 2 decimal places, while the more challenging 2 star version was designed for the cards to 3 decimal places. However, both sets of cards would work with either board. It works especially well in A3, however, you could scale down the board to A4 and use the smaller card set supplied. You could have pairs take on other pairs. Each team of two starts with a set of cards (print each set on different coloured card if you don’t have coloured printing that would allow you to print the different coloured cards supplied, then laminate to use again and again). It works well if each team shuffles their cards, puts them in a pile and takes one from the top at a time, which they then put down on the board if there’s a suitable empty box. They aim to get four of their cards in a row. Each box has a stipulation about the numbers that can be placed on it (no tenths, < 1.5, > 0.31, < 0.56, five hundredths etc). To save printing you could split a set between 2 or 3 boards as a single team won’t require all 54 cards. The cards can also be used separately from the game boards for ordering activities. Decimal Numbers to 1 Decimal Place Numeracy Treasure Hunt : An active printable mental maths team game, with differentiation, ideal as a whole class starter or plenary, especially when focusing on addition and subtraction of decimals or place value to tenths / one decimal place. It can be played multiple times in a lesson or across several lessons as groups can use different card sets each time. Teams complete a treasure hunt-type chain of decimals calculations, followed by a ‘Find the Target Number’ mental maths challenge, using a mixture of the four operations. There are 54 double-sided cards, forming sets of 6 cards for 9 teams. A key feature is the chance to involve lower ability students in a fun whole class activity to give them a boost of confidence without it being obvious their calculations are less challenging (3 of the sets are at an easier level). My French basics / beginners resources are designed for Year 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 for initial teaching or revision but might suit others, depending on experience. Due to a small number of UK / US spelling differences (organised / organized etc), there are 2 versions of the PDF file within the Zip file. The previews show the UK versions. SAVE by purchasing this as part of my Describing People (Character) BUNDLE, which also contains: French Character Traits Presentation French Character Traits in French Worksheets and Puzzles If also teaching Describing Appearance (hair, eyes etc) you might like this French Physical Descriptions BUNDLE Also, this Describing People (Physical and Character) BUNDLE contains the above bundles plus a 7th pack that combines both topics (French Physical and Character Descriptions Translation Cards and Comprehension)   IN THIS 25-PAGE PDF: Vocabulary support: word mat and table of adjectival agreement. These 2 pages are also included in related resource packs. Four in a Row: 2 boards. Print and laminate. First to get 4 in a row - vertically, horizontally or diagonally - wins. Students use dry-wipe pens. Board Game: Practice of 1st and 3rd person sentences using the adjectives. Print and laminate. Answer key included for student checking. Loop Game: Instead of ‘I Have…Who Has?’, this is a ‘Je suis…Qui est…?’ game. Distribute among players. First player reads aloud the right side of their card, stating the word under the picture in English. Others check if they have the matching French word, and so on. Grid Game: 6 sets of 2 identical cards. Best if laminated, with students using dry-wipe pens. Play in a similar way to traditional Battleships. Bingo / Noughts and Crosses: 16 cards for a group game of Bingo in pairs or Noughts and Crosses / Tic Tac Toe (with students taking it in turns to say aloud a word in French from their card). If cards are laminated, students could use a dry-wipe pen. Teacher Notes / Instructions

Maths Games KS2

Fun fast finisher activities and starter tasks! Designed for Upper KS2 Year 5 and Year 6 (Y5 and Y6), this is a BUNDLE of printable, well-differentiated Four in a Row Game Boards for starters, warm ups and early finisher activities in Maths / Numeracy lessons. Great for revision or consolidation of new concepts. Includes games for Area, Money, Doubles and Halves, Times Tables and Decimal Numbers (Place Value). In Scotland, suits Second Level Maths - Primary 6 and 7. Expand your bank of Key Stage 2 games with this great value BUNDLE of easy-to-prepare, fun and strategic 4-in-a-rows. Most just require printing and laminating. I recommend printing in A3 but A4 would be okay too. You might need to quickly adjust printer settings with some of the files. Laminate games to use again and again, with children writing on the boards with a dry-wipe marker / whiteboard pen. INSTRUCTIONS: Two children (or two pairs of children) take it in turns to write an answer in a box. Ideally they use a different colour whiteboard pen, however if this is not possible they could add an initial or symbol each time too. First to get 4 in a row - vertically, horizontally or diagonally - is the winner. The games work especially well if students roll a dice to determine which column they should answer a question from. The columns are numbered 1-6. If the column is already completed, they could either miss a go or roll again. You can find previews and more information about each resource that is included in this bundle if you click on them but here are some details: CHANGE FOR £20 2 standard game boards and 2 lower ability boards. Children roll dice to find out which column they can do a calculation in and then must work out the change required for £20 for one of the items pictured and priced in that column. Children write on the change using different colour whiteboard pens or add their initials. All answers included. DOUBLES AND HALVES 10 boards to consolidate doubling and halving of two and three digit numbers. Includes a one-star version of both the doubling and halving game for younger or lower ability pupils - sidebars are included, featuring all answers, which children can strike through when used. It’s also included without the answer sidebars in case your pupils don’t need this added support. This version focuses on lower 2-digit numbers and multiples of 10. Then there’s four different, more challenging versions of both the doubling and halving boards (two and three-star versions). All answers included. Play as the money game above. AREA 3 differentiated boards: One-star version - area of rectangles, squares and right-angled triangles. No conversion required. Two-star version – as above but with more challenging calculations. Some conversion required between centimetres, metres etc. Includes decimal lengths and breadths. Three-star version - area of rectangles, squares, right-angled triangles and compound shapes. Some conversion required. Includes decimal lengths and breadths and more challenging calculations. Some of the compound shapes require children to work out the length of a side, using other given sides, before they can work out the area. Children will be able to do some of the calculations mentally but could use paper or mini whiteboards to work out the more challenging ones before writing in the answer on the grid. TIMES TABLES 4 Times Table Boards in colour and black and white versions. All 4 available in LA supported versions (with answer sideboards), standard version (2-9 times tables) and in a version with 11 and 12 times tables added. Use whiteboard pens as in the games above. DECIMAL PLACE VALUE Consolidate place value to 2 or 3 decimal places. 2 differentiated boards: The 1 star board was originally designed to go with the cards to 2 decimal places, while the more challenging 2 star version was designed for the cards to 3 decimal places. However, both sets of cards would work with either board. For use with this game are two sets of 54 decimal number cards featuring numbers from 0.001 to 2.01 (1 set includes numbers up to 2 decimal places, the other up to 3 decimal places). I hope these resources save you time and help your students learn in a fun way. Thank you so much if you are able to spare the time to review them on TES. Fun puzzles worksheets for Key Stage 2 (Year 4 and especially Year 5 and Year 6), ideal for independent work, early finishers activities, starters, challenge / extension tasks or homework. This BUNDLE contains 16 fun Hidden Word / Spot the Mistakes puzzles worksheets for multiplying and dividing in PDF format and full answer keys. Please check the previews to assess suitability. Fast finishers love being challenged by these challenges, plus they make great collaborative starters too! Why not laminate and use again and again, with students using whiteboard pens? Alternatively, you could place them inside dry-erase sleeves. These puzzles worksheets are great to have on hand throughout the year. The 2 resource packs in this BUNDLE are also available separately: Multiplication Puzzle Worksheets Division Puzzle Worksheets Times Tables 2-10 Times Tables 2-12 Doubles to 50 Doubles to 100 / 2-Digit Doubling Doubling 3-Digit Numbers Multiplying by 10 and 100 Multiplying by 10, 100 and 1000 (including decimals) Multiplying by Multiples of 10 and 100 (including decimals) Division with Table Facts 2-9 Division with Table Facts 2-12 Halving Numbers to 100 Halving 2 and 3 Digit Numbers Halving 3 Digit Numbers Dividing by 10 and 100 Dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 Dividing by Multiples of 10 and 100 An engaging alternative to standard worksheets, they can be completed individually or in pairs / groups. They are similar to codebreaker puzzles, with a maths-related word to be revealed after completing the calculations. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a calculation and a letter. Students circle any boxes containing errors, then put together the letters from these boxes to reveal a maths word. There is a further challenge question / task at the bottom of the page linked to the hidden word. Students often forget or avoid checking their own work for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking the calculations in these puzzles. Spotting common errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves. The range of puzzles in this resource is ideal for differentiation and revision and / or to cater for a range of groups and classes across Key Stage 2 and early KS3. Hopefully they’ll be helpful for your teaching over many years. Homophones Spelling Games Activities BUNDLE

2 Resources
10 KS2 Year 4, Year 5 or Year 6 spelling games to make learning about homophones and near homophones fun. This could be used as a home learning activity, with a child aiming to reach a target of correct answers in a given time. These ‘splat’ SPaG activities include the following words that are often muddled up and misspelled: there / their / they’re (64 sentences included) it’s / its (64 sentences included) where / were / we’re / wear (64 sentences) whether / weather (32 sentences) knew / new (32 sentences) your / you’re (64 sentences) here / hear (64 sentences) to / two / too (64 sentences) threw / through (32 sentences) no / know (32 sentences) CONTENTS: 2 PDF documents (37 pages in total) 2 PowerPoint (10 slides in total) This bundle is comprised of 2 homophone splat game packs that are also available separately: Homophones Games 1 Homophones Games 2 The games revolve around a total of 512 sentences which model a variety of structures so that while children are learning about the spelling of commonly confused words they are also learning about how to use a range of openers, connectives, sub-clauses etc to construct interesting sentences. Many sentences are silly to further engage children! It’s a challenge to make SPaG work active and engaging, rather than relying solely on worksheets and these homophones splat games are ideal for fun consolidation during the main part of SPaG lessons or can be used as purposeful early finisher and/or starter activities. If you print and laminate them all, children could self-select the homophones they need to practise. It is best played in small groups, where children each take a sentence card which features 8 sentences with a homophone word in it (homophone words are printed in bold). Children take it in turns to read a sentence from their card while the others compete to splat the correct homophone flashcard (homophone flashcards are included in black and white as well as fun colour ‘explosion’ style cards so you can choose which to print). The first student to hit the correct homophone word scores a point. Students could lose a point for hitting the wrong word to stop them being tempted to guess early. The PowerPoint includes a slide for each game and features the homophone words for splatting as a whole class version on a ‘splattable’ whiteboard, should you so wish. 3 people could compete together each round, perhaps representing 3 teams. Thank you very much.
