Ideal as a little and often bell activity/starter - stop the scrolling powerpoint on a quotation and students shout out the missing key word from the quotation.

A ‘because, but, so’ paragraph can act as a useful tool for starting off an exam response on a character to demonstrate the depth of a students’ thinking.
Here are 6 ‘because, but, so’ sample paragraphs on the 6 main characters in the novel: Ralph, Jack, Simon, Piggy, Roger, The Beast.

Differentiated lesson looking at an extract from Chapter 5 of Frankenstein - when the creature comes to life.
For higher ability there is a PowerPoint with annotations and model exemplars to stretch the more able.
For lower ability students there is a structured worksheet:
