Explaining Photosynthesis Outstanding Lesson AQA GCSE Biology New 9-1 Bioenergetics

(6)
This is lesson 1 in the new Bioenergetics topic for AQA new 9-1 Trilogy and Biology specification. Written by an experienced teacher, writer and examiner, for teachers to teach a whole lesson at KS4. This lesson contains all elements for an outstanding lesson, with maximum student involvement and minimal teacher consolidation (just the chalk and talk that is necessary). Teaches the equation and keywords, test for starch with instructions for a practical/demo. Learning intention: To explain photosynthesis with an equation, naming reactant and products. Includes a tool for the demonstration of progress, activities for the students, mini plenaries to ensure students are understanding as you go along, an optional practical or demonstration, printable support mats to have available in the room (fantastic if you don’t have any or enough text books) and revision cards to give the students to take away and revise with (the revision cards are available to purchase as whole topics).

Glycolysis and the Link Reaction Double Lesson Aerobic Respiration A Level Biology OCR A

(2)
Glycolysis and the Link Reaction Double Lesson Learning intention: To describe the process and site of glycolysis and the link reaction Can easily be split into two lessons if required. Works well in flipped learning or by a traditional method. This was written to meet the OCR A specification but looks like it would meet the requirements of other exam boards or could be easily tweaked. Resources include take away active revision cards for students, which double up as sources of information and can be issued the lesson prior to turn into a flipped learning environment - they read all the information they need, then spend the lesson learning it further/ applying it/ using it. Plenty of activities for students to learn and demontrate progress.

Controlling Body Temperature GCSE Active Revision Card Activity Versatile and Effective

(11)
This resource is one of my active revision card activities on 'Controlling Body Temperature'. Aimed at the new 9-1 AQA specification for single sciences, but the content looks like it would suit all exam boards. My active revision cards include a 'Do' and 'Review' slide, where the 'review' assists the student with the whole content for the lesson and the 'do' makes the learning more active and challenges students to recall the keywords etc for the lesson. The document is very versatile, can support the flipped learning environment as an instructional slide. Can be printed on half a sheet of A4, a great size as take away revision cards, also good size for a starter for the next lesson or a plenary at the end of the lesson. The resource also makes a good support mat printed on a full A4 sheet. This is one document from a pack of my premium resources. I hope this will help students and teachers with teaching and learning.

Action Potential Card Sort Revision Card/Activity New OCR A Level

(2)
Useful for students to use for revision, and for teachers to use in a lesson as an activity to help students learn the action potential graph. Includes a 'Do' slide and 'Review' slide. The 'Do' slide is an activity to check understanding, statements can be matched to each part of a blank graph which students can be encouraged to have a go at drawing (you need to source this - many options available on internet for checking students work). The 'Review' are the answers which doubles up as a revision card for the student. Teaching Ideas: The Do can follow chalk and talk or similar as the teaching component, alternatively send one student in a group at a time to view the graph and report back to draw the graph shape. Students can then work out which statement belongs where, this should be followed up by teacher consolidation.

Photosynthesis Worksheet / Organised Work Mat & Information Mat for Photosynthesis AQA 9-1

(1)
Photosynthesis Work Mat, Includes an answer sheet. Please leave a review! Suggestions below to - USE these in an outstanding lesson. An information mat AND worksheet/ work mat for students to collect and organise the information they require for the Explaining Photosynthesis lesson. No books or other sources required as I have written all materials to work together and allow the students to work independently. There are many uses for this resource depending on ability High Ability Higher sets are asked to read the review sheet as homework before the lesson, perhaps asking for a word glossary or mind map to be produced. The starter for the lesson would be to complete the work mat from memory, then switch to another colour to complete using the Information Mat (review). The rest of the lesson I ask a high ability set to apply the knowledge. Low Ability Lower sets are able to independently complete the work using the Information mat (review) and work mat together, they can read and simply find the answers.
