Independent project - Ideal to set whilst schools are closed (March 2020)
Fully differentiated and a wide range of tasks to be completed!
Assessment opportunities included throughout.
Please leave a review :-)
Learning outcomes;
-use concentration, expressed in mol/dm3 and in g/dm3
-complete calculations with results from a titration involving simple ratios
-carry out more complex titration calculations
Contains a template from which students can organise there titration calculations (this can be printed for weaker learners to write on).
Worksheets should be printed for students to access.
This resource should be made into an A5 booklet that students complete and stick in to their books. The front page should be filled in last as a review exercise and has a section for the teacher to give effective feedback on.
AQA/OCR/Edexcel GCSE bonding
This resource is aimed at achieving the following learning outcomes;
-Define ionic bond
-Draw ions
-Draw the formation of ionic substances using dot and cross diagrams
Differentiation opportunities;
-helps speed up slow workers
-helps neaten up messy workers
-tasks have the correct number of circles pre drawn
-there are prompt boxes drawn for charges
-task has difficulty levels and so students can be directed on ability
-higher ability pupils can be directed to extension task
2018 RWS C1.2 Chemical equations and conservation of mass (2 x lessons)
Whole lesson (new spec, grades 1-9, AQA):
-Learning outcomes
-New information
-Tasks
-Assessment
-Differentiated
AQA C10.1 Reactions of the alkenes
Lesson objectives;
Name and draw the alkenes
Recall how the alkenes react with oxygen in the air
Define the term addition reaction
Explain how the alkenes react with hydrogen, steam (water) and halogens (Cl2, Br2 and I2)
Tasks with full answer guide to all questions included.
AQA C10.2 Structures of alcohols, carboxylic acids, and esters
Lesson objectives;
Give the name and formulae of the first 4 alcohols and carboxylic acids in the homologous series
Draw their displayed formulae
Give the name, formulae and draw the displayed formulae of the ester-ethyl ethanoate
Tasks and answer guides.
A4 Teacher planner, diary and mark book
This A4 Teacher planner, diary and mark book is designed by a teacher with first-hand knowledge of what makes a good planner! It includes;
• Front cover
• 109 page planner and diary (all dates for the academic year 2021.22 are included)
• Timetable
• Register and Mark book
• Parents evening appointments
• Meeting notes
• General notes
All pages are available as editable word documents.
AQA GCSE Chemistry (1-9)
C3.7 Giant covalent structures (carbon allotropes; diamond and graphite)
Learning outcomes;
-Describe the general properties of substances with giant covalent structures
-Explain why diamond is hard and graphite is slippery
-Explain why graphite can conduct electricity and thermal energy
Differentiated tasks and extension opportunities with AFL.
You will need to insert a video clip from youtube (I recommend; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKTsQOpLwdE)
Learning outcomes
-Define dynamic equilibria and closed system
-Compare rate and yield of a chemical reaction
-Use Le Chatelier’s principle and its application for homogenous equilibria to quantitatively deduce the effect of a change in temp, pressure or concentration on the position of equilibria
Equilibria task should be answered by writing LHS or RHS in each box dependent on the direction of change of equilibria.
The GCSE chemistry data booklet has been reduced and the common ions list has been removed. There is now an expectation that students can use the periodic table to work out the charges on some of the common ions or that they learn these off by heart.
These flashcards can used in the following way;
-Displayed around the room
-Given to the students and used for learning the common ions off by heart
-Used within a lesson by the teacher
This resource should be made into an A5 booklet that students complete and stick in to their books. The front page should be filled in last as a review exercise and has a section for the teacher to give effective feedback on.
AQA/OCR/Edexcel GCSE bonding
This resource is aimed at achieving the following learning outcomes;
-Define covalent bonding
-Draw the covalent bonding diagrams to represent a number of molecules using dot and cross diagrams
Differentiation opportunities;
-helps speed up slow workers
-helps neaten up messy workers
-tasks have the correct number of circles pre drawn
-task has difficulty levels and so students can be directed on ability
-higher ability pupils can be directed to extension tasks (level 4)
AQA/OCR/Edexcel GCSE bonding
This resource should be printed (4 x A4 sheet) and given to students to complete. They then stick these into their exercise books.
This resource is aimed at achieving the following learning outcomes;
-Draw ions
-Identify the charge of an ion
-Name an ion
Differentiation opportunities;
-helps speed up slow workers
-helps neaten up messy workers
-tasks have the correct number of circles pre drawn
-there are prompt boxes drawn for charges
